I love this extension. Best possible outcome in my mind. Really really solid off season. This feels like the right way to build a team, not extremes of signing a max guy away from their team or constantly failing to get the #1 pick. This feels like a Miami model

Its fair to question the direction. Odds are it probably all wont work out anyway.

Given the direction they have chosen or the direction they have been instructed to take i think they are good moves overall.

Will it all work out in the end? Who knows. At least we should have a more complete team and better pg play.

Now I'm not sure if 75% of the post are folks trolling or really that morbid and overtly negative about everything we do

It's sad

It's really gotten so much worse over the past 1-2 years tbh. It hasn't even resulted in positive basketball or team building discussion for the most part. Some people who are negative are fine and have valid reasons. Others just tend to get people riled up while spouting hyperbole that doesn't make any sense without any like charm or wit to it.

I didn't love every offseason move we made but i'm not going to sit here and act hoodwinked about it because we literally don't know 95-99% of what's going on behind closed doors... The way I see it the Knicks are "locked in" to a team for at least 2 years who we know at the very least are decent with some solid growth potential with our young gunners... None of these contracts, barring unforeseen circumstances, look untradeable or worse than net neutral value. When have we ever said this in the past? We might not be as close to a championship as the Lakers or Nets and if you view fandom through the lens of "championship or bust" then I can understand some level of frustration with the current makeup, but acting as if being in the largest media market with moveable deals and young assets with a surplus of picks is some awful god forsaken situation to be in seems like a bit melodramatic/attention seeking behavior to me.

You lost the Randle war my friend. Officially!

Nah, war was over in the first round after he shot .298. This is the heat death of the Knicks universe and you're going to have to be his spokesman for any bad performances going forward. Your brand is now tied to Randles for good, may god have mercy on your soul.

No no you were saying you’ve won the war when he gets the super max. Since that didn’t happen you switching up!!

You lost already, we can go back and check the files. His playoff performance was so bad that anytime I said I won you didn't bother putting up a fight and now you trying to claim a W after months of lost ground? I never switched up I said we'd all lose if he became our franchise player. Before the playoffs it was just me, after the playoffs I had an army, and I told you that would happen. I'm warning you now yet again from friend to friend, this board will come for you if this all doesn't work out.

nah continuing to whine like a little bitch on this board after this front office continues to make reasonable and measured decisions this summer is actually delusion.

I crushed him for his poor playoff performance but it certainly looks like this young fella left some money on the table because he wants to be a Knick and I f*cking love that.

rj barrett maybe the first knick in decades that they re-sign, this front office clearly values continuity over a new turnover.

i love it, this is how team iq is developed

Capn'O wrote:Knicks didn't have the avenue to create a great team within the next few years so they created a good one. They have contracts and assets to facilitate a deal or they could just be a good team for a bit. That's going to create cache for the next time we have the opportunity to create a great one. Dolan can become an afterthought like all the other jackass billionaire owners in the league.

Hopefully we get some good flashes from the younger guys. Especially McBride/Vildoza, as we'll eventually need somebody to take the PG reins and at best Kemba and Rose will need some off games this year.

It's very important to realize that creating a good team is a step along the usual path towards creating a great team. It is NOT synonymous with a "treadmill" team, but is a further level towards where we want to be. Our roster will not be static for more than 2 years, and there's always the possibility that if some star likes who we have become, they will request a trade. We now have some pieces we can trade if that happens. If not, let's enjoy the basketball!
Exactly treadmill is a team that has good but untraceable contracts and can't grow. We no longer have that.

I mean it’s okay if you don’t want to win a championship. Enjoy these wins I guess. We’ll always watch someone else holding up the trophy but at least we might get into the playoffs.

Realistically speaking - there are about 3 teams every year that can actually win a chip. I don't hear ya'll bitching about any other team that doesn't. I'm 37 years old and been a hardcore fan for 27 years at this point. The best years of my sports life were rooting for those 90's teams that never won a chip. We root for our teams to be good and enjoy watching them play. I really don't know where this championship or bust idea came from with NBA fans but it's wild. All of this is funny too because the reality is that Lebron spoiled everyone by ACTUALLY being a once in a generation franchise changer. Ya'll keep thinking that 1 percent chance of landing the top pick that will also be the second coming of Michael and Magic is a realistic option - it's not. All of those "Franchise" saviors you all salivate over in recent years are likely NEVER winning championships with their teams. This league is for better and worse about actual franchise guys teaming up together now to win chips, it is what it is. The truth is you all want to tank infinitely until you get a player you personally like so that you can satisfy your own ego's about being right. That's all it is, egotism.
