you forgot to put "contract" after Russ
Russell’s contract is way shorter, his stats may even be better - even as a mere third wheel. Compare their current stats including even Russ’s greatest knocks: turnovers, field goal and three point percentage. Westbrook is better, his contract is more suitable and there really is no drawback at all in trading Randle, Kemba and Fournier for him today. Look up their stats before telling me otherwise. I’m serious.
And Russ may not even be done. Who knows what he can do between RJ, Cam, Obi and Mitch. I want a rebuild, but that team may even be more successful than the current trash.
If we ship all those players our for Russ he most definitely isn't going to be our 3rd wheel. He is going to be the man here.
I'm sure there are some stats that show he is doing well - same line could be used for Randle. Russ is washed no way around it.
I get that he fills a position on need, frees up obi, and has a shorter contract. I'm just not gonna buy into that Russ is a solution. He is a problem.
The only reason I could see to trade for Westbrook is to get rid of longer term deals, free up cap space for 2023
Let him play out the rest of the year and cut him in the offseason, or just cut him outright (which would never happen, but still)
And if we could get a pick, that's just gravy.

The entire summer is a problem. If we could trade the two long term problems...Randle/Fournier...for just one shorter term problem...it makes sense. It would open minutes for Grimes/Cam/Obi...and perhaps be more fun to watch an uptempo team. Need at least one pick in return.
I'm not even sure I would do it...but...there is some sense to be made of it.
Compare to standing pat and losing anyway while having to run it back again the following year.
Ah. Whatever. Nothing is going to happen.

He’s an all star.
But they have more interesting guys, not just him.
I’m not sure if I should be impressed that he’s an all-star even though his team has such a bad record or if that’s a red flag
That arrogance from a Knicks fan is surprising. They’re actually rebuilding. Like, really rebuilding. No vets, all in. Spurs are 20-34, Knicks…. 24-31. Everything you need to know is right there: they tank properly, they develop talent, they produce an all star point guard even despite major injury (plus all the others - Keldon Johnson, Vassell etc.), their record is basically just as bad as the Knicks’, yet they will most likely draft ahead of them and a better prospect. What’s more, they don’t pay stupid money for useless vets over the next four years. They only have short contracts on the books. As for Murray: Do you think he leaves anything to be desired? We could only wish for such a player and we most definitely cannot trade for him.
What you just applied is Dolan logic and I am legitimately surprised.

It makes us worse, too. Which helps our draft position. You guys peer pressured me into.
Also it would upset Melo which is a key factor that hasn't been mentioned.

What? This is how we tank. Haven't you heard? We always tank. It just never works out...right? Right? It's pure brilliance. The stealth tank they call it. The competitive tank. It is how all good teams are run. Look at SAC/ORL. Perry was a huge part of their tank success! That's why we hired him! Great plan.

The Knicks should immediately shut down any discussion for Cam? Not sure why people think he should be untouchable.

Nobody said that.
The rumor is just showing that the front office and coaching staff aren't on the same page.
You don't trade a first round pick for a guy, barely play him, and then look to trade him a few weeks later. That's just dumb ass management.

Heard Cam can't be traded with other players, if we were to trade him, It will have to be a solo trade. Is that correct?

So if someone calls and says we are interested in Reddish and they don’t immediately slam the phone down that’s incompetence?
They are incompetent but being willing to hear an offer for a borderline g leaguer isn’t one of the reasons
