lol That’s some bs. Grimes plays defense better than Burks so we lose there. Burks is also a FA after this season so we lose there. Grimes is also significantly younger than Burks and has a higher ceiling. He also has much higher trade value for a star trade because Burks has zero since he’s a FA.

I wanted us to get Bogey for quite a while because of reasons like injuries to Randle (check my posts), but this was too high a price imo, and he won’t have the kinda value Grimes would in a star player trade. There’s positives to it… depth, firepower, experience, shooting, but I just think the cost was too high.

Especially when you factor in that we paid Detroit to take Burks already, gifted them Jalen Duren, now we’re gifting them Grimes. From a value standpoint… it’s not a genius move by any stretch and stinks of poor negotiating to me. It’ll still do some good for us, but the cost was too much.

Y’all really overrate Grimes…

This is such an awful take.

yeah we were getting to Frank level here. (And I was as guilty as anybody).

That’s wild. Frank can’t hold Grimes jock

He's right. Replacing OG with BB while losing Grimes makes us a bad team.

The reason we've been playing well is that we have been playing a hardnosed defensive style, with less turnovers and fewer offensive holes.

Plus you are taking shots away from DD. It's a really bad trade.

i don't see why some are so sure deuce is out. we were playing both deuce and grimes. we kept deuce, got rid of grimes. now we can simply play deuce and burks. if anyone's out of the rotation after our starters come back, it's precious. because randle/og/bojan/hart are all sure to play as our forward rotation

We got better from the trade

But we also gotta throw away the idea that we actually can develop homegrown talent

We can't and we never will

Getting Lowry after a buy out will make this trade easier

Dude has enough left for a playoff run

of course he is, but thats not what I meant.
he went from "mr. untouchable" and "he should get all the touches as a 3rd option" to "at least he still plays hard" in a span of 1 year. really disappointing imo.

I watched every Knick game this season and almost every game since 94.

Grimes had his opportunities this season and fumbled it. He’s too timid, didn’t shoot as well as he should, and couldn’t create for himself. His struggles have nothing to do with Brunson or Randle either.

He should have thrived playing off ball unlike RJ.

Bojan and Burks help this team now and gives us a legit war chest come playoff time without sacrificing 1st rounders for a big trade.

when you're getting blown out every night is it easier to shoot a higher percentage from 3? like during garbage time? could be that the over 40 percent thing is slightly inflated

also when a team sucks at drafting, does it make them seem good at trading?

Will be interesting to see MJ Burks in games that actually matter. I enjoyed his time here but it echoed the long-standing Knick Treyverson phenomenon of encouraging journeymen role players to dominate meaningless non-playoff games for the sake of justifying MSG ticket prices and Dolan’s ego.

Now whether Burks can turn it on in crunch time of games that matter is anyone’s guess, but it’s not like Grimes had any mental composure whatsoever under rhe bright lights.

Great trade. Takes a lot of pressure off of our current primary scorers.Bojan isn’t no slouch despite his age and should fit in seamlessly. Our offense just got much better.

we developed mitch and iq into valuable pieces. mcbride's coming along too. whether or not we use their value in a trade or on the court is a different issue, but we've done a solid job with most of our key draft selections over the last few years. obviously picking a semi-bust at #3 was a notable blemish but we've consistently taken diamonds in the rough late in the draft and made them rotation players

I can’t disagree with you more..the team defense even without OG and grimes has been fine. The one loss the GLARING weakness was too much doubling of brunson and forcing someone else to beat you which the team had zero, now with both burks and BB, they have more depth to limit the minutes and more weapons so defenses can’t collapse on brunson anymore

His point was that fans have massively overrated young talent on this team. Grimes is not that young asset some of you guys make him out to be.
