I haven't felt better about a game like this in awhile. We are good ya'll. Might even get that Hali single digit scoring game he likes to put up every now and then. Belt to @ss tonight. Calling it now.

This is as close to a must win as you can get though I still think NYK would be able to come back from 0-2 against Indy. They're just built crazy like that. 0-3 would be impossible though haha.

I expect the Knicks to come out with a sense of urgency on defense and blow them out. If not we should be worried. Them front running and celebrating is what we needed to see.

Indy is the only team I’ve seen where the Knicks have blown multiple games with big leads. They’ve always taken their foot off the gas pedal in many games vs Indy. They need to play like it’s Game 6 vs Boston and stop **** around and take care of business

It's a must win. We just got disrespected at home (again) by one of your podcast buddies...enough is enough of this ****.

The game will tell him what to do. The game told him to sub out Mitch and Deuce with 4 mins left and up by 16 because the game didn't want to hurt Brunsons feelings.

I mean -- you amass a fortune and then all you need to do is buy a safe and keep it locked. Then you decide to willfully leave that safe open, and someone comes and steals it. Yeah Pacers deserve credit for stealing it.

Not that simple because Nesmith got hot and they did other things well. But like Haliburton's shot was just lucky. Nesmith not being called for being out of bounds (or being challenged) was just lucky, Thibodeau being incompetent was just lucky for them.

The Knicks 100% opened a door that was closed. So it's hard to see that as anything but one team tossing and flushing a win in the toilet bowl as hard as they could. By sheer hubris and stupidity.

So, the short answer is ... very little. I give Indiana very little credit. They didn't even play that well in OT, Indiana. They got the lucky non-goaltend call that would have and should have put them down 6.

BUT NONE OF IT, none of it, happens unless the Knicks willingly give back the game. Look at that Brunson play, had 22 seconds to burn and no timeout called, and he just passes to OG who is awful.

At worst, the Pacers are looking at down 5 with 10 seconds to go. They'd have like a 2% chance of winning that if Thibs just calls timeout.

I feel like I'm on another planet because this was 100% incompetence from so many angles.

The game telling him to burn a challenge on a clear offensive foul was a masterful gambit as well.

I think Deuce needs to play more minutes tonight, if not start.

Also. Let us leave their bodies on the Garden floor to rot.

I give them credit for capitalizing off of the utter brain dead decisions that led to the Knicks losing.

We beat ourselves.

Even then, 6 shot attempts in 44 minutes is unacceptable. I get we still scored 135 points, but when it got to the end of the game, the Pacers were just doubling and trapping Brunson. Need another threat out there. Can’t just play 4 on 5.

too bad, thibs will ride josh until the day he gets fired.
josh is not going to get benched. He is the embodiment of thibs' playstyle preference

There are times when Deuce should be in for Josh, on possessions where another shooter would make better spacing for JB to penetrate and/or kick out to him. How often do we see Josh as the desperation kickout receiver, because he's the one not being guarded tightly at all.

I agree in that we should've won the game. We lost focus at the end of regulation.

Maybe this was posted already. JB takes some responsibility for Nesmith going off:

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nba/knicks-jalen-brunson-shoulders-blame-for-aaron-nesmith-s-historic-night-pacers-game-1-victory/ar-AA1FiZYq?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=6ab0e440d64f4146ae7e4ba0ab28c62d&ei=33

With his team trailing 113-98 with just five minutes remaining in the contest, Nesmith authored one of the greatest individual displays of three-point shooting in NBA playoff history, as he knocked down his next six consecutive attempts from distance to help Indiana erase the Knicks' lead in improbable fashion. The Pacers would eventually claim the instant-classic battle in overtime by a score of 138-135, and Nesmith finished with a career-best 30 points and eight made threes in 38 minutes of work.

Following the Pacers' unbelievable Game 1 win, Brunson spoke with media members regarding Nesmith's all-time great fourth quarter performance, and whether he could have done more to prevent it.

"Once he hits one, you've got to be on high alert," Brunson told reporters Wednesday night, as shared by SNY.

"I've got to do a better job of finding him, I think he had like one or two that started it off with me in the vicinity."

"Just not a (good) way to close the game."

Somehow reading this gave me hope for tonight, just thinking they'll be more aware of Nesmith and he isn't likely to go off like that again. I think transition D will be better, it has to be. Pacers aren't known for their defense, but their transition D was quite good in game 1.

i hope for more Deuce and Mitch and less Josh
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.
