The New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers had historically bad seasons in 2015, and fans have to be sick of seeing them both on national television as frequently as they are. The Lakers struck draft lottery gold when they jumped up from the fourth best chance of the first pick, to landing the second overall pick. The Knicks were faced with the opposite end of the deal, moving down from second to fourth.

The Lakers are in desperation mode for an instant rebuild, rather than a gradual process, in a bid to give Kobe Bryant one last shot at a title. The Knicks on the other hand need a full rebuild, and should look at filling their roster with young and talented players. This potential deal would give the Knicks that exact opportunity and chance.Obviously other players would have to be added and swapped for cap reasons, but this would be the core of the hypothetical potential blockbuster trade.

Knicks receive: #2 overall pick, Julius Randle

Lakers receive: Carmelo Anthony

LINK: http://sports-kings.com/passthepill/kni ... -and-melo/

Author says KNICKS would have #2 AND #4 pick, which could land us at least Oakufur + possibly Mudiay for our future, as well as Randle, then a few FA's with our cap space. Discuss...

I came up with this idea a few days ago and posted in the draft thread. Melo goes to Lakers for Kobe, Randle and their pick. Lakers then sign Kevin Love and Rondo. We draft OK4 and Winslow (or Mudiay), and get ready for the long rebuild.

I was just about to post this. The only one I like is the Embiid trade (I suggested it in the previous page of this thread, they but be reading our stuff  ).

kej718 wrote:Knicks trade #4 pick to 76ers for Joel Embiid
76ers can then get #3 D’Angelo Russell and #4 Justise Winslow 8-) They will still have Nerlens Noel and a lot of draft picks in the future to get another big man if they want to.

Knicks get a big 76ers get 2 top 5 picks (weren't they talking about trading Embiid in the past? What was all that about?)
What do you think is Embiid worth the risk, or should we play it safe and get a PG?

C
Joel Embiid
PF
LaMarcus Aldridge or Paul Millsap or Greg Monroe (sign 1 of these dudes)
SF
Carmelo Anthony
SG
Monta Ellis
PG
Langston Galloway

I think it helps both teams, but if I were the 76er's I would keep him. Knowing them if the Lakers were to somehow take Russell with the 2nd pick, they would still probably take another big man.

Yeah it's speculation but I'm not so sure lakers wouldn't do it. They're years away from competing for a title. What they need is a superstar to give hope and excitement to the fan base. Melo Kobe will be sellout city again and keep a star in the lineup when kobe inevitably goes down. You know kobe would be for it over a team full of rookies for his last hurrah. Remember, it's jimmy buss jr.
What would jack (Nicholson) want them to do?

But this is no rumor, just a hypothetical trade scenario, really dont matter if I'd do it because neither team would.

The Lakers are prepared to move on from Kobe, he's retiring sooner rather than later, there will be no such last hurrah at a ring, even he knows it.

The Knicks arent gonna go into full rebuild either, Melo is a Knick and will stay as one.

Was just going to post this. This was Kane2021's exact scenario from like December.

And Randle too, he ain't no throw in. That's that pipedream that only JR Smith can give.

I like the lineup you made even though it is almost gonna be impossible for us to get LMA and M.Ellis but i wouldn't trade our pick for Embiid. Not because of his talent cause he has the talent i'd want but all the injuries he's already had to his foot and legs on a big man is way to much of a risk. I wouldn't do it because of that but i really like the trade with the Bucks where we get J.Henson, K.Middleton and the 17th pick for the 4th pick and of course the one where we get D.Cousins was good and i like the one that we trade our 4th pick and Calderon for T.Lawson and W.Chandler.

I know it's true that you can't rebuild in NY, but hypothetically, if you receive 7 pick of previous draft, 2 and 4 current draft, you do it. You'll be able to sell that to the fans and the media, I know we'll definitely buy it on this board

So true, but man this board would be perfectly fine with a full rebuild if we did it properly, its just the rest of New York that can't seem to have the patience and understanding on what a rebuild is.

Then it's on the organization to educate fans and form better relations with the media. Once that is done, then there will be more patience and understanding.

Majority of humans are fairly gullible. Knicks just need to get creative on their campaigning strategies. I know it's easier said than done, but there has to be a way. I'm jealous of other fanbases who seem to have much more patience.

The Lakers trading Randle for Carmelo is more feasible than the #2 pick.

AKA, click bait and someone posting his idea.

Here, let me post mine - 2nd + Randle + future picks + fillers for Melo. Quick, someone run with the speculative rumor based on absolutely nothing!

It certainly isn't the worst idea I've ever heard.

But I doubt the Lakers give up two high lottery picks for the sake of 50-something Kobe "Mr. Glass" Bryant.

For me, they'll likely have to add another first round pick (to make up for the 2016 pick NY no longer has), considering how much the Knicks had to gave up to get Carmelo. NY can't go into full rebuild with their 2016 pick owned to someone else. It really becomes impossible if they continue to trade their picks whenever possible.
It's hard being a Knicks fan...
