We let Lin walk for nothing; now we want him back and we dont even have the real assets to take him back... One of the worst decisions/moves ever made by this franchise!!

Actually I was in for keeping Fields, too... When you're over the cap for a longer period and you have RFA there you always keep them; if not talent wise, you can use them as trade chips

He only said one thing and then retracted his statement? He goes out and plays hard every night

We aren't in a position where he is giving up on the team. He wants a trade but we don't have to trade him unless it is a deal that benefits us.

Casspi plays backup pf for us most of the time and plays it well. He does what he needs to do for us and that's hit open 3s...And since when has bargs been either of those things? He's playing well this year, I will give u that

Bargs doesn't provide anything we need. Asik does. Jones has been playing really well, too. We won't deal him just to deal him. We don't need bargs Felton is trash Aldrich I like but the drop off from Asik to Aldrich is so much especially with Howard who still isn't 100% and can get in foul trouble, shump I like but I feel we can get a better deal ESPECIALLY since were including Lin

You do know that's just damage control, right? He still thinks something can be done. Once he realizes Morey's just bluffing and doesn't actually want to trade him, he'll go back to sulking and complaining to the media. And I hope he does that.

I need some clarification on this, when the hell is Jr eligible to be traded? Trade checker says January 15, other places I see December 15. Which one is it?

combination of a few rumors: Houston looking to move Asik for stretch 4. Orlando willing to move Afflalo for young assets. Portland offering Lopez for Asik and getting turned down:

NYK: Aaron Afflalo and Glen Davis
HOU: Andrea Bargnani
POR: Omer Asik
ORL: CJ McCollum, 2014 POR 1st rd pick, Joel Freeland.

Orlando gets good value for Afflalo and shed's Davis contract, Portland sacrifices the draft pick to add a center who could pair with Aldridge for the next 5 years, Houston gets their stretch 4. NY gets 2 well rounded players.

With a follow up trade:
NYK: Goran Dragic, Gerald Wallace, and Channing Frye
BOS: Amare Stoudemire
PHX: Kris Humphries and an asset from BOS

Boston gives up an asset to shed the last year of Wallace's deal, NY flips the asset to PHX and eats Frye's contract in exchange for Dragic. PHX could also throw Gerald Green's contract in the deal in exchange for Udrich.

Knicks Lineup:
Chandler/Martin/Frye
Anthony/Davis
Wallace/World Peace/Smith
Afflalo/Shumpert/Hardaway
Dragic/Felton/Prigioni

Trade JR Smith for Kendrick Perkins, cut Chris Smith sign Rip Hamilton. Perkins and Hamilton add vet leadership.

Can Paul Gasol save our season ?

Post#3088 » by MeloTime » Sun Dec 1, 2013 7:34 am

I still believe we can grab Gasol from the Lakers.
He will complete our team. I am not sure how LA feels about Amare contract but I am all in for throwing Shumpert and even THJ in the deal to get it done.

Knicks trade: Amare , Shumpert & Raymond Felton
Knicks get: Gasol , Steve Blake

Gasol plays both sides of the ball
He scores in the pos and mid range , rebounds , plays defense and most importantly he passes out of the post and makes good plays.

Center - Tyson chandler
Power - Paul Gasol
Small - Carmelo Anthony
Shooting -Tim Hardaway
Point - Steve Blake

6th man - Andrea Bargnani
7th man - JR Smith
8th man - Metta World Peace
9th man - Kenyon Martin
10th man - Pablo Prigioni

This would put us into contention even though our point guard play would still be weak but Blake is averaging near 8 apg in LA.

Thoughts ?

Food for thought , No D Toni has LA playing over .500 ball with a Kobe Less team. What's up Woodson ?

LA wants a max FA next season, they have the cap room without Gasol who is off the books by then. I think they'd probably target one of Miaimi's three if they opt out, Melo, heck Zach Randolph before taking an extra year of nothing with Amare. Best bet would be to try and dump Shump for something (true PG would probably make sense here)

Is Paul Gasol Pau Gasols middle aged accountant cousin who was born and raised in a middle class white neighborhood?

Brace yourselves, fellas. The threads are just gonna keep getting worse and worse until we start winning. If that ever happens.
And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

Is Paul Gasol a point guard? Because if they have a PG in their family, then he might be able to save our season.

We save them Thompson's contract though which is 2 years longer than Amare's. Plus who are the King's realistically gonna miss in their package? Maybe Vasquez
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Any chance in hell we can get Lin back?

Man I was watching the Linsanity movie and it just really hit me how dumb it was not to bring that dude back. He is exactly what this team is missing right now.

Mike D did not want Amare on the Knicks or team USA when he was coaching so i am pretty sure he won't want him on the Lakers either.

As ludicrous as offering Stoudemire for anything of value is, if the Knicks were to make the decision to move on from Anthony, the Lakers and the Clippers are the only likely landing spots to maximize return. The Lakers could provide the rebuild return while the Clippers could offer the ability to compete for a lower end playoff spot for a few years. With the Lakers it would have to be a very large deal with a unprecedented number of players exchanging teams to make the numbers work and might allow the Knicks to trade off several expirings and Nash for draft picks for a complete reset. A injury to Griffin or Jordan or Doc becoming increasingly frustrated with Griffin's lack of defense could precipitate both being traded for Anthony and Chandler with a couple of throw-ins from both sides. Martin and Artest from the Knicks and Dudley or Bullock and Hollins from the Clips could be tempting though I think Dolan believes he will win with Anthony. He is far more likely to continue to try and augment Anthony and bet on his love of money when his deal expires and the promise of what can occur once Amare and a few other underperformers are traded or allowed to expire. I can only imagine the talk this time next year concerning Amare, Chandler and Bargnani if they all make it through the year in a Knick uniform.
