he's not the only one saying that. almost every one's saying that. every podcast i've listened to, every time they talk about the knicks on ESPN/TNT halftimes, even our own Clyde Frazier has said it. do I hope it works with Melo? of course. but he'd have to make some changes in his approach.

D'Antoni is going to have to man up and tell Melo to play within the system when Lin is on the court and Melo can play Iso when he is on the bench.

That's how a coach gets fired. This is a stars' league. Look how quickly Cleveland let go of Mike Brown when they felt LeBron slipping away. Same deal in Utah with Sloan and Westphal in Sacramento. When there's a conflict between a player and a coach, the organization almost always sides with the player (nowadays) unless you're in San Antonio.

But why do people forget that that Suns team that went to the WCF had Joe Johnson, also a ball dominant ISO player?

JJ didn't turn into an ISO player until he went to Atlanta. He wasn't an ISO player in Phoenix. He was actually the secondary playmaker on that Phoenix team. Mike Woodson's the guy that made JJ into an ISO player.

did you watch suns games back then? Joe Johnson was pretty much just a shooter on the suns.

Melo is this kids biggest cheer leader and has made a lot of adjustments on this team. I think he is happy for lin, and relived. Replace walker with melo. Those shots are going in.

And then we add a player that can close late in the clock when we need that bailout.

I understand people may not like melo. Or his game. But the dude has tried to do the right things here. I really think he wants to win. And in his mind the only way that was going to happen with this mess under this coach was to do it himself.

Its not only a new ball game in NYC, its a new attitude.

That's what I've always seen.

Iverson 6'0"
Lin 6'3"

Lin is definitely taller (and has less vertical than AI from what I can see). But neither is physically imposing and relied on guile, quickness, and balance to finish.

Good post.

I believe Melo is watching this unfold, as evident by his cheering on the sideline, and by no means does he want to mess it up.

He's a big fan of Lin out there especially.

He'll fall in line, I have no doubts about that.

Well said Kane. Melo is not stupid, he is not going to ruin the chemistry when he's back on the floor.

Are people seriously worried about Carmelo taking away minutes from Bill Walker?

Agree that Melo will have the right mindset. I am interested to see how we use his skill set.

It is THE question right now as Amare should fit right in as the Pn'fn'R master.

As far as the "whose team" question... it may have just been settled tonight.

Wheeeee!

It's the board overall consensus too, and I find that to be quite sad.

But I do think Melo needs to look at the play of someone from 2008, and watch every single game of his......Paul Pierce.

Thats a great idea, mate. If Melo tailors his game after[cou]Paul Pierce[gh] are offense would be unstoppable.

I will say one other thing, Lin is alot stronger than he looks.

He's getting hit and bumped, but he still can finish around the rim with the contact.
