How do you mash up The Jackson 5 with Van Halen and somehow make it work?

The Yayhoos sing ABBA’s Dancing Queen and make THAT work! Check this out. Best with headphones and turned up loud.

The guy who did this mashup is named Bill McClintock, and he's got a ton of 'em. The combinations he uses are entertaining without even listening to them. Stuff you'd never think would go together.

Bob Marley & Billy Idol
The Bee Gees & Deep Purple
Slipknot & The B52s
Kool and the Gang & Quiet Riot
The Temptations & Black Sabbath

Love the idea of taking a mellow song and rockin it out. It reminded me of what Limp Biskit did to George Michael's "Faith"

I've played the drums on and off and always wanted to do this kinda sht. Doing songs like the alphabet, the Jeopardy theme, and fckin Barry Manilow with loud ass guitars and everything totally over the top

Not at all  . I'm in my mid 50s. Have always had rhythm but I'm not good enough to play live on kit. Back in Philly I gigged at a couple small places locally on congas. Was living in Manayunk in the mid 90s playing with a band called Peep. We played at La Tazza and Margarita's just off of Main Street. And a couple of venues downtown. We weren't good enough to play at the premier places for the best local bands like Khyber Pass down near Bookbinder's or Grape St Pub in Manayunk.

I went to Drexel U on a swimming scholarship btw. That's what brought me to Philly after growing up in Westchester county. Mentioning this because I know you live or lived in Philly too. Our very own Malik Rose was a Drexel guy.

Put it this way, I can play well enough that everyone I've jammed out with has come back to jam with me again. I play on a Mars Mapex Pro. Stuff like Zeppelin is my wheelhouse

LaTazza in Manyunk!

I went to a Drexel vs. BU basketball playoff game at Drexel during Malik's years. You must've gotten to The Palestra for some Big 5 action. That was always a lot of fun. I miss Philly.

It's amazing how Manayunk just kinda sprouted up outta nowhere. Main St was formerly basically just Pitcher's Pub and Bob's Steaks and little else. Then all of a sudden more restaurants started decorating the street and it turned into a super happenin place very quickly. I worked at one of them called Sonoma.

Bob made you a good cheesesteak for cheap and was also a bookie on the down low. A cheesesteak, a bag of Chumpie chips and a drink wasn't even 5 bucks. He kinda looked like Curly from the Three Stooges. A few times we'd show up after partying at like 3 am, and you could knock on the door and the dude would wake up from the back and come out and make you a steak . Don't know why he didn't tell us to just fck off. Half the fun was just seeing if he would do it

The best places for a few drinks back then were Pitcher's Pub if you were going to watch sports, Grape St Pub for the music, and The River Deck if you wanted to get laid 8-) . Yeah I miss it too

Saw more Sixers games during the Barkley days at the Spectrum than college ones. College wise Lionel Simmons was the biggest name in town playing for LaSalle. Followed by Mark Macon at Temple.

Feeling nostalgic today I reckon :D

Ha! Sonoma was a favorite date place for me. Do you remember the container with the melon-flavored vodkas?

Yes, the River Deck! Before our shore house (Avalon, NJ) season started, everyone would get together at the "River Dick" to get everyone in the right mood for the shore season.

Are you still playing your drums?

He tells some cool stories to Otis Gibbs, another musician who has toured with other rock artists like Bob Dylan.

Check out Otis Gibbs's YouTube channel for lots of cool rock and roll stories. Also, The Professor Of Rock has some great interviews on his YT channel.

The Otis Gibbs channel is great. This is one of my favorites by one of my favorite guitar players:

Haven't played my drums in 3 years, long story. Still have them though.

That's cool you know Sonoma! I'd be lying if I said I remembered the melon vodka container. I'll use age as my excuse, as it was 30 years ago. I do remember slicing the sht out of my thumb preparing the starter bread for one of my tables. We had to cut it ourselves and it had a thick crust so it wasn't easy to slice. "Would you care for more blood on your bread, sir?"

Lotta betties were working there, that was a nice bonus. The owner Derek Davis was visibly stoned as fck when he interviewed me. He literally just asked me one question: "Why do you want to work here?" He owned the joint next door called Kansas City Prime as well, and later added two more.

I begged for them to let me off the night of Game 7 to no avail, when we were in the NBA Finals against Houston. They were running the game upstairs and I was working downstairs. So every chance I got I'd bolt upstairs to try and watch it. It was agonizing. My tables got some supremely shtty service as a result and for that one night I didn't give a fck.
