yeah i think they have trade nash no? that's why i was hoping embiid would fall to the lakers. not a bad consolation prize if he managed to get healthy in order to take nash's deal on.

Melo has gotten Lebron's ear. They're best friends and can't both play for one or the other's home town team. That wouldn't be fair.
But LA has the ability to sign both.
In what universe?
Staple Nash to Randle and ship them out easily.

Reports came out that LA is in serious contention for Melo. Chaos ensues. Same ol' sh*t other than that.

obvious? word?
Melo's dream is to be thought of as the greatest in NY. Whether that meant forcing a trade to here or New Jersey, and he did that. He wants to be Bernard King, Ewing status AT LEAST.
By all accounts Jackson is in his head and has him believing. The only way I see these reports being true is a Kobe, Lebron, Melo team up. Nothing else about that roster right now could push him away from all the pieces and cap room we have next season.

Kobe, Melo , and James on the same team should happen just for the LOL's. Well..not really but I think the entertainment value in clutch time would be tremendous! Kobe would use his old man strength to force them to let him shoot!

Re: MeloDrama Part V
Next year would be a good year for Lebron to join the Knicks if that is something he wanted to do. I remember Melo hating Noah during the season and wanted to get the bulls back for those games that the knicks lost. I still doubt he is willing to go to Chicago, D-Rose coming off the same surgery as Amare. Kobe isn't the same player that he use to be and in order for melo to take a 4 or 5 year contract, he would have a much older Kobe/Pau to deal with. Lebron wants a 2 year contract with opt out option next year. The Knicks will have space next year to sign another max and could work on getting more assets. Chicago over LA, but I still think NY over all.

Hmm. What's the exact number if they clear Randle and Nash?

Furthermore, Melo can't risk signing a short term contract because he could risk not being worth as much next year. This is Melos last big contract, he is going to take 4 or 5 years. He would be best off waiting for NYs Cap space to clear up some and add other players. If Amare wants to play NY after next year, sign him for 4 mil a year. They would only need to get more assets and maybe dump Jr. Smith.

Only Jeannie Buss and Melo. If he wants to sign with LA then I guess Melo can easily convince the Lakers to accept a sign and trade. He could say he helped the Knicks.
The Lakers have zero incentive to accept a sign and trade but at the same time, it won't hurt them either as we're not in the same conference.
Would it get Melo any more money?
No. He can't get more money in a sign and trade. It's a new CBA.
So there's not much value in any asset that the Knicks could expect to receive back from the Lakers assuming they agreed to a S & T.
