Exactly this. They really screwed up this offseason. Passing on DSJ and taking Frank is going to be the biggest mistake since passing on Artest for Weiss. It all starts at the top for why this franchise sucks and will continue to suck, even with a tank. They could get the first pick overall and somehow screw that up too.
If you're actually comparing Artest/Weis to DSJ/Frank I wonder if you've seen any of those four play basketball.
Not sure about anyone else, but I don't want my PG to be a ball dominant, no defense playing, low assist to turnover ratio type of player. But flashy dunks, right?
im not gonna start a frank VS DSJ debate here but come on dude, have u seen smith play at all in the preseason? he's not even close to what you described him as.... i've watched every mavs game so far since he's on my BAF team and he's really debunking all that stuff u just said. just because we have frank doesn't mean we have to put down other prospects as well. u know better man

It's a Burke thread so this will be my last comment on DSJ (maybe ever), but FACT is, he is a point guard who is shooting 40% from the field, shooting at an alarming clip, while having an assist to turnover ratio of just over 1. I'm not saying he won't be good, but my god has he been overrated so far. I mean prior to his last game he had 5 assists in his first three games. 6 turnovers. A .83 assist to turnover ratio. He's a point guard. That's really, really, bad. We should want to finally rid ourselves of such types of players.

Meanwhile Frank can't get on the court.

Ok, so let's ignore the less than 1 point per shot, bad efficiency, the fact that his defense is still hit or miss, him missing open looks, shot IQ still not entirely there and him taking too many shots off a mis-handling of the ball, etc.
DSJr isn't bad by any stretch and I think both he and Frank will be damn good guards, but saying DSJr is way better than Frank was not worthy of the 8th pick is wrong IMO. But, yeah, nice puff-piece about DSJr that only focused on the positives and ignored the negatives. Let's stop being salty about Frank banging knees with a player and missing preseason games?
Anyways, I'm done going off topic here and I suggest you get back to Trey Burke as well.

Lol schemes

Both Burke and Kanter were our draft picks that didn't work out. I'm sure they'll do just fine in NY though.

he's been hitting his team mates with open looks every single game. they just couldn't hit their shots. he's a pure PG, just like frank. he could've had 6+ assists in those games where he only had 3. just like how frank only had 3 in his first game, he could've easily had 5+. his defense has even been good too. i mean i know im not crazy cause mavs fans are saying the same things as well. he's been living right up to his expectations in my eyes. that one game where he shot like 30% is because he was out there with complete bums and was used as the first option on offense. they rested the whole starting lineup besides him. so stuff like that is gonna happen as a rookie.
i just don't see this ball dominant player that only looks to score. people who don't watch the games say that about him. hell he's even driving LESS to the rim to get his team mates open looks.
this is why i don't even bother mentioning DSJ on this board anymore, besides the BAF threads. too much people just look at the box scores and come to conclusions based off just that.

Isiah Thomas lottery pick? Oxymoron.
