Alas, not every outlet can be good at monetizing propaganda.

all cable news is the devil

I honestly wish there was a news outlet that focused on raw "news" and not going for shock value and is actively not being controlled by a major party. I guess Democracy Now would be the closest to unbiased news information, but in reality there is not one in this country. The best news you can find on American politics is overseas, IMO.

I know this is blasphemous for the Democrats, but Russia Today provides solid news that won't be covered by the MSM here (and despite what idiotic democrats think, RT goes after Trump a lot). The BBC is also decent.

Sorry, Pravda, I mean RT, sucks.

The BBC is good though.

To them affirmative action is akin to legislation hating on the white man and giving the minority person an advantage they don't deserve. So all of these old hatreds flow from two historical timelines, slavery and LBJ era legislation. These white people still carry all of that around inside of them. MAGA people are full of fear of a non-white majority. To them America means whiteness. So they felt they could close the borders and prevent it and maintain white power.

You went to school in NYC? Did you ride the subways as a kid? Whenever I hear that someone went to high school in NYC I immediately think of Jim Carroll’s The Basketball Diaries.

Yes, I was a solo strap hanger at age six. I've take the IRT down to the Village and go walking around. I'd go to Times Square as a kid and walk around. My parents did not have a leash on me at all. I saw lots of freaks out in the streets. Hippies, junkies, whores, crazies, it was fun.

By the way, I've come in off the ledge concerning "Justice" Kavanaugh's CONCURRING opinion in the Wisconsin election case decision. Thankfully, his opinion was not joined by a majority of the justices. That means that it's just his own opinion and not of any significance other than evidence of his astounding stupidity.

If you want to learn more about the legal implications of that decision, watch Seder's interview of Mark Hasan, below:

There is no equivalent to Fox News on the left, and the closest thing to OAN or Breitbart is probably TYT

Every news source has a bias, but not every source is equally biased. It's really not that hard to understand, but some people feel the need to oversimplify this stuff so they can "but both sides" to make themselves feel superior.

You must be nuts if you don't think MSNBC is as biased as Fox. MSNBC literally fired Ed Schultz for covering Bernie Sanders announcement to run for president. Cenk Uygar had a popular show on MSNBC that challenged certain Democrats on Capitol Hill, and they forced him to either tone it down or lose his show (he eventually quit and created TYT). For the past 4 years, MSNBC promoted Russiagate conspiracy theories because Hillary lost and told them to.

MSNBC is definitely as biased as Fox News. It's the democrats stomping ground, period.

CNN is just fake news for ratings. Like Jon Stewart said in his interview on Fox News--CNN is biased towards sensationalism, and MSNBC wishes it was half as successful as Fox.

MSNBC sans CNN actually report news that’s based on factual and researched evidence. Just compare the coverage going on at Fox News (it’s all Hunter Biden) to the other networks. Did Fox News even run a single story on Trump’s secret Chinese bank account or the fact that it paid nothing in taxes? How much is Fox News covering the actual facts of the coronavirus surge? Stop trying to paint false equivalences, especially since you and I both know where you get your information from.

Didn't Fox News lawyers were explaining to the judge that Fox News viewers understand that Tucker Carlson was an opinion-based show and not actual facts? Or did they say it was like satire?

That's understandable that Kavanaugh is an idiot. It is also concerning that he used a piece from the Gore v Bush when some of those same SCOTUS said that this was a "standalone" and not a precedent. Basically he used it anyway!

BBC, Al Jazeera, Canadian Broadcasting etc. I can make an argument that most publicly funded international news channels cover the news without injecting opinion. But even based on the facts their coverage would be pretty close to that of MSNBC and CNN than Fox News or other right wing sites. They wouldn’t even come close. Which is why comparing MSNBC and CNN to Fox News is idiotic.

Yes they said that no reasonable person can take anything Tucker says seriously.

https://www.npr.org/2020/09/29/917747123/you-literally-cant-believe-the-facts-tucker-carlson-tells-you-so-say-fox-s-lawye

Just read U.S. District Judge Mary Kay Vyskocil's opinion, leaning heavily on the arguments of Fox's lawyers: The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' "

She wrote: "Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive[s] with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

Keep in mind the judge in the case is a Trump appointee.

they argued that he is not stating facts, exaggerating, and engaging in "non-literal commentary" and that any reasonable viewer would understand that and be skeptical of what he's saying, that was literally their legal defense against slander charges against him, and they won. yet millions still watch it and believe the things he says because fascist propaganda is pervasive. and yes it's fascist propaganda, he's a third positionist, one of his writers got busted for being a part of an influential white nationalist social network a few months ago. just a bad apple I guess.

oh and he will be president in 2024 probably

Yeah, I don't hate the subway, though there were always moments when you really didn't want to be there, like times I've been stalked or threatened, but other than that it is a big part of my memory of being a New Yorker

covid though would make me hate it right now. That has to suck

Al Jazeera has good journalists, but the difference is it is funded by a monarchy so it is not the same as state-sponsored BBC or CBC. AJ still has to keep the interests of Qatar in mind.

that's basically where I live now, on 101st st

the subway was totally dead for months when covid was in full swing. But I was on it a couple days ago and it was starting to look more like it used to. not packed like sardines but pretty full. I usually take the 1 at 103rd or the express 2/3 at 96. But I like how those are some of the oldest stations in the city.

at least most people are wearing masks and respecting the distancing as much as possible
