Doing the same stupid thing over and over isn't going to yield better results. Last year the Knicks struck out on real franchise changing type FAs but they were also injury risks so they chose to punt in maybe the most expensive way possible, not that wise but whatever.

This year there really wasn't any franchise changing FAs so the punt is more understandable but they did it in a more economic way on players that are better fitting, save one of course. While still collecting draft assets and young players so it sets up for the future.

Why are people in such a rush instead of allowing a new regime to establish itself and see what the coaching staff can so with the existing youth? There isn't anyone available at this point that will make them a contender for anything but may hurt the draft pick so just chill, it is what it is.

I hope Toppin is great, but it’s like building an NFL team with receivers and a running back without an Oline or a QB..we have now spent two straight lottery picks without addressing the point guard position, and don’t tell me the plan was to wait till 2021 draft to finally get one..we are going to waste another year of development wondering how good these guys could be with a point guard.

Sometimes you gotta go with BPA

Knicks also drafted Quickley in 1st rd tho

Then why did Timmy shoot better then him last season?

 Because THJ was actually legitimately good for once from deep last year?

THJ had the best year of his life shooting the ball by a country mile last year, and that only got him to the level Hield was on in what was a slightly subpar year by his standards.

Last year from 3
THJ: 39.8% on 7.2 3PA
BUD: 39.4% on 9.6 3PA

Career from 3
THJ: 35.3% on 5.6 3PA
BUD: 41.1% on 6.7 3PA

Sadly, no. I was sure the nets wouldve used him as a 12th man given his connection to durant, but sadly I was wrong

You mean like help them get a worse pick the next two drafts that are expected to be stacked while not making them a better team in the grand scheme of things?

Seriously just effing relax and watch some College Ball this year and fall in love with any of the top 7. Whoever we draft (as long as we are in the top 7) will be the best player on the roster as soon as his name is announced. Patience... It's not like anyones going to MSG this season anyways.

Although, maybe they have a point. Hield has been on the Kings who have been even worse than the Knicks so he possibly can 'help' them to a better pick.

He's the type of shooter you'll covet sooner than later.

I don't ever covet one dimensional shooters on 4year$21milper contracts....and neither should you.

I'm really starting to think I can't be part of this board anymore. For years I heard people screaming for a proper rebuild. Now that we are doing it, we are screaming to sign free agents. We will suck this year. Maybe next. It is the first year of a real rebuild. We have never done it before. We did it one year to get RJ. The next 2 drafts are the drafts to do it for. If we get a good pick this year and possibly next we could be set for the next decade. Can you all calm it down please and be patient. Getting Chris Paul or Hayward would have helped maybe fight for an 8th seed. I wanna one day fight for championships.

I understand the perspective, but at his level there aren't so many and nothing's free. Every top shooter will get paid, literally has been getting paid, and despite the track record, we shouldn't be going after mediocre.

We've been mediocre at any single skill ever since Melo was a prime scorer. In sum, that's bad. Hield isn't the type if mediocre player you fear he is. He is efficient and dangerous. A little old by now, okay.

Hield's contract isn't that bad when you compare it with other guys in the league with a similar skillset. If the deal is Randle+Frank for Hield, it would leave us with roughly 58 million in capspace going into next offseason. It's a decent deal considering we're probably not going to resign Frank anyway.

Bruh, I get the polarizing views on Frank here, but we finally have a homegrown guard that plays defense and they trying to get rid of him? Move Elf (even though I don't know if they can based on the rules) or DSJ instead. Keep the facking guy that can actually play D

Yeah he's like Nesmith only a lot older and much more expensive. If we are still coveting that we can just use the Dalals pick in the next draft to get it.

Fair enough, I'd support this. Top level shooters are hard to get though. I don't think that's appreciated enough around here. Obviously we don't have that.

What's more, we are paying mediocre players without any standout skill right now during our rebuild. Might as well pay someone you could still use down the road.

But if we can get a gunner of his caliber on a rookie deal, I'm in.

Nesmith has great size for a SG and actually plays some defense so he's a 3&D type that's heavy on the 3 and lighter on the D but that makes a huge difference.
