I agree we are going to run pick and roll with Mitch. Obi is going to get out of the paint and spread the floor when we run PnR. Obi has a good stroke so If he increases his volume he could be a stretch 4 like Marcus and Markieff Morris.

Then why not draft Haliburton and sign the real Marcus Morris.

If we’re not gonna use Obi’s actual skill set and use him as a generic floor spacer, I really don’t see the point. Which is why I believe the Knicks will eventually play him at the 5 and trade Mitch (maybe to move up in next year’s draft?).

In what alternate reality?

True. Memphis has shown to be very idiotic in their approach to drafting and team building, so they threw 9 million a year at him because he flat out sucks, but they like his personality.

You thought us not getting Wiseman would be the end of it, but now because we have Obi the whispers are growing louder and it's not even me saying it anymore, we are legion.

until everyone sees obi play

Oh but my sweet friend, they won't blame Obi for the spacing issues, it won't be him. He's going to get every chance in the world, he's the new regime's first pick, they will move mountains for him to succeed.

He's my favorite player and I'd love him throwing lobs to toppin and mitch, but would rather him be on a contender than wasting away here

His pro career thus far begs to differ.

Yes, Knicks shouldn't scout anyone and pick up guys who are starting to put it together.
Conversely, apparently they shouldn't sign any vets who are good either.

You're upset we didn't commit 4 years at $9 mil a year to a guy who "is putting it together" by shooting 40% from the field and 29% from three?

he's 6'8. you think he's tall because he looks big compared to the little kids he was dunking on. now that the rockets aren't gonna start pj tucker at center, he'd be the smallest center in the league.

I was commenting on him before the amount was announced. And was thinking a price closer to the lower exception. For 9 million they can have him, though I think he'll pan out and live up to and past that.

I didn't like Portis all that much but yet again, another instance of us having no damn clue what to do with any players we have at all times. Apparently the team gearing up for a championship run thought he fit

I like the idea of developing RJ as a 2, there's nothing about him that should prevent him from being able to defend the 2, which is also why I like the idea of signing Hayward. You put enough wings on the floor and there will always be a mismatch somewhere on the court.

Meh not sure I really see him as a 2. But still I don’t want here Hayward chucking up a lot of shots. He should go to a winning team

Why don't you see him as a two? You are what you can defend really.

I think RJ is kinda slow guarding guards. As he gets bigger I think he might be better off at the 3. Plus it allows us to put a true sniper at the 2.
