Johnnie Bryant got in the lab with RJ on finishes for sure. I did not see them slow dragging feet layups. He just straight took it!

Lonzo held his own in the post against Randle. That was weird. Was Julius tired?

This may be true, but .... and I might be in the minority, but I don't care if his shots start falling. Once we drafted Grimes, i wanted him to get mins over IQ. His ball handling, BBIQ, passing, midrange, movement off ball and defense is better. He can develop into an all around 3pt threat.

Front office may be hiding Grimes prior to a big trade. Keeping him on the bench now could prevent a potential trade partner from asking that he be included in a trade package. We can always unleash him later. :dontknow:

Thibs needs to figure out our closing units ASAP. We look shaky come clutch time again.

On defence - D-Rose, Burks, RJ, Julius, Mitch.

On offense - D-Rose, Quick, Fournier, Julius, Obi(looking for l-ups + open threes).

If we can beat good teams with Julius having an off night, we're hosting a playoff series again...

Need Rose to replace Kemba in those closing lineups, we can't keep letting teams into games when we should just be stepping on their necks.

I'm just glad to root for wins and get them. Haven't been able to focus on the games with the passing of my girlfriend almost 3 weeks ago. Tonight I saw some slop at the end bt they were clearly the better team. 4-1 and looking like a solid playoff contender so far. Plenty of games to play and fix any issues. On to the next one.

Kemba was great until he f’d up his spot as the closing PG.

Randle gets too far in his own head against creative defensive sets that run lots of doubles. He seemed shook and it was reminiscent of the Hawks series. If he’s truly going to emerge as a legit #1, he needs to take the next step mentally by dominating opposing doubles and stepping up in the clutch.

That said, f*cking great win and f*cking better to see Knicks-Bulls actually mean something again.

Well you make you own luck. They seemed to want it more. We are considerably more talented though. It was a road win versus a tough team. Ill take it. Ill say one thing..we are just skimming our full potential...

Rhodey, I agree with all this. But what do you think is going on? I mean this team preaches about loving the Thibs style, but they play West 4th street ball down the stretch all the time with boneheaded long passes and shots early in the shot, clock. It’s like they are failing at the easiest part of the game, having situational awareness and being energetic.

Just seems like weird symptoms for a Thibs team.

Coaching is there, we play good defense when we try. Evan Fournier was looking really good defensively versus Lavine...But on the offense coaching can only take you so far if....

a) 40% of your starting lineup is new - time should help this.

b) The offense is predictably run thru Julius even though we have several other options. He's just not the best under pressure..he will still make bad decisions or sloppy decisions under duress- and sometime under success- more on that later...

Julius is our best player but he's not the best guy to be doing certain things at certain times.

If he was a little more self aware and had a tad less ego he would know when to defer. He's not fully there yet. Forget about squandering the lead. When we had a decent lead - I think we were up by 12pts or something- Chicago missed a shot Julius go the rebound and decides to make this kinda difficult pass cross court to RJ . He botched the pass and overthrows RJ.

Its plays like that where I see the ego and lack of knowing his limitations, knowing the flow of the game. Hes a good passer but dude you aint cp3 or Magic Johnson. That pass was totally unnecessary, we had numbers either way and would have easily gone up by 14 or 15 if he'd had just been smarter or should I say "cooler". He's excitable sometimes....

But a single play like that is the difference between us blowing the Bulls out and us leaving the door open enough for them to flop and scrap their way into a nail biter.

But JR shouldn't shoulder all the blame Thibs has to let our guards be guards and stop with the ego ball feeding for JR.

The team is unfortunately going to follow its leader and I can honestly say our team leader should be DRose...

If JR continues to fall apart under pressure it has a cascading effect on the entire squad. If he fixes this, we blow teams like the Bulls out more time than not - because Kemba being on makes our starting 5 pretty damn un guardable. Wake up Thibs!.

PS IQ is another guy who is the difference between us blowing teams out and not - with our second unit. If last years IQ played today and he hits those 3's . He hasn't been good and I'm starting to get impatient for Grimes....

It was like deja vu how the Bulls actually copied the Hawks defense against Randle in the playoffs. It had a similar effect on him too but this time he had more help and we had a 10 point lead most of the game. It's good that the team saw that defense again so early in the season so they have an idea what to expect
