you guys are way too harsh on Hart. ideally he plays 25 minutes off the bench, takes about five shots and gives you all hustle and ball movement. not his fault that we are down so many bodies and somebody has to shoot when Brunson is double teamed.

why would you trade grimes for a 1st round pick? he's started to look a lot better lately and his defense is very good still

I would only trade him if we also trade for a scoring G/F off the bench. where do you think he would get minutes if we add another vet?

you only trade grimes in a superstar trade. he's our best young asset

They were triple teaming him the entire game and he still dropped 36! But that was great strategy having Prince guard him; the height obviously bothered him. That will be the template going forward.

Most teams guard Brunson with a SF or taller.

I guess the reason I didn’t notice that is because Prince picked him up from half court or before most of the time. He was extra aggressive.

Prince also played Brunson physical, going thru screens aggressively and all that. There were a few moments I thought he could've been called for a foul but it's the Lakers. Thibs really should have sat Brunson to take a breather to start the 4th. We were up 6. Trust the bench, for better or worse.

at some point we need a size or athleticism advantage at some position on the floor. why not try out Murray.
I think if we add him we are squarely on Boston's level if fully healthy. And if he returns to form defensively we might end better than everybody.

Coaching and team chemistry matters in the NBA. That team in Atlanta is a bit of a mess. Dejounte here will probably look drastically better defensively than he did there. Some think the high level defensive ability he showed under a better coach/system under Popavich is gone. I don't believe that. I believe he comes here and in our system with what he will be asked to do defensively he will be quite good at it. This is not another Kemba or Evan Fournier situation. No where close.

Not to mention a guy who will absolutely help Brunson in the backcourt in multiple ways. Knicks are playing their hearts out right now. We got to get them the help they need.

Donte has played great as a starter for us, is a clear superior fit, and stepped his game up on offense these last 4 games with Julius and OG out (27 ppg on solid efficiency). He’s not the problem and shouldn’t be benched for a questionable choice like Dejounte (who shot 9-24 for just 19 pts last night btw even if he ended the game well).

Brogdon, Caruso, BBrown, Burks, etc make more sense. I see the potential upside of getting Dejounte (namely as a trade asset) but he’s too much of a risk on and off the court for me. I’ll trust whatever Leon does though.

If you understand how he'd be utilized it makes perfect sense. Donte would still get major minutes because Grimes will be gone, McBride will be used a bit less and DJM will play minutes at both 1 and 2.

idk that a 7 ppg player will be the main piece in any superstar trade. we could easily add more first to off set not having a young player in a trade for a star

Dejounte never made sense and people saying to trade for him I never really took seriously. First he’s a lead guard who needs the ball and we already have one. Plus we have one of the best spot up shooters in the league with Ragu so unless we speed up the tempo this might not work. So theoretically our 1-3 is set! The 4 and 5 position are the only positions we can upgrade based on style of play and fit. That’s why Randle this year has to play well in the playoffs along with our center play because that will be what we upgrade this summer. This is a make or break year at our 4 and 5 positions. And make no mistake Towns Embiid Giannis and Lebron are fully well aware of this along with their agents.

It’s not his fault and Hart is awesome in the things he does well. Yeah the injuries to other guys have put him in a role he shouldn’t be in.

We lose 1 out of 10, and every Knick fan does a quick mental inventory confirming that we do in fact still own a pitchfork back there someplace.

Shams and woj keep mentioning Grimes as our main young piece in a superstar trade. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. Most teams want him because he’s a 3 And D player with upside. That archetype is the most sought out archetype in the league currently. Why do you think the Knicks said he’s untouchable for Donovan Mitchell lol

You're right about that but I could see why they would want Dejounte. It's more for the offseason to flip him + whoever to get another star player.

The reason I'm skeptical to want him is because of the chemistry and Thibs stubborness. He wants to start and close out the game. People have been saying he is a defensive liability. This is going to ruin another relationship with Klutch. IDGAF about Rich Paul but he has clients that can make us better.
