I'm miserable. Should be riding a high going into game 2 right now.

OG going up with the shot instead of letting more clock run out was an Isiah Thomas Knicks era move

We can come back from this. Right now the chasm of disbelief and despair is huge. But by tomorrow, I think a close loss will be better than being blown out

OG’s contract and the 5 picks for Bridges are Isiah Thomas era moves. Our cap sheet/draft picks looking forward is Isiah level bad.
Yes - the on court product is much better because Brusnon and KAT are far superior to Marbury/Eddy Curry.
But you’re correct, you need to run that clock down and shorten the game, or make them foul. A shot clock violation would have been better in that spot because they would have less than 10 seconds down 2 possessions.

Dude think about it. Most coaches in the league would put their star player back in. We routinely have closed games with Brunson and towns all post season long. Are they weak defensively? Sure. But you’re thinking lineups when the solution was much simpler than that. Just switch. OG let Nesmith take at least 3 wide open threes when he could’ve just switched. You stop Nesmith and the game is over.
Not when you are up 14 with 3:44 left to go AND that lineup with both them in was getting DESTROYED ALL GAME. It was a mindless, robotic thing to do instead of having the right feel in that situation because you are actually paying attention to what the game was clearly showing you up until that point.
They brought Brunson in at the 5 minute mark. He only came in that late into the game bc he had 5 fouls and there’s not a coach in the league that doesn’t put in their star in that situation. So with no foul trouble he likely would’ve been in at the 8 minute mark. This loss is not on Brunson or towns. If Brunson and towns can’t close a 14 point game then technically they should never play late in games at all. We should always have defensive subs for the last 5 minutes bc if a 14 point lead isn’t safe then imagine a 8 point lead or a 5 point lead.
When they brought in Brunson they needed to take Towns out and bring in Mitch to close out the game. Plain and simple. The eye test as well as analytics showed they were destroying the KAT/Towns combo. Sure keep Brun out there but You bring in a more defense heavy lineup up 14 with less than 4 to go.
New reality of Son ship!

I had Bargnani flashbacks when he hoisted that 3 and Clyde yelled “what is he doing folks?”
Really bad decision

OG and Mikal also have to worry about the players they are defending and also the players Jalen and KAT are defending because of how bad those 2 are on defense.
With Deuce and Mitchell on the court with OG and Mikal they only have to worry about their guy.
In the same way that Brunson and KAT provide value offensively that OG and Deuce and Mitchell don’t.
As soon as Brunson went to the bench OG started scoring.
KAT was surrounded by 4 defenders in OG, Mikal, Deuce, and Mitchell and that's how they got the 17 point lead.

The issue isn’t the talent. It’s the way they’re being used. Thibs is the problem.

Honestly, I wish I weren’t a fan of this team at times.
Just 31 years of soul crushing losses or embarrassment.
There has to be a payoff to this insane attachment and loyalty to this team, but I will probably be in adult diapers by then.
Like I never seen every thing just go so badly all at once. Not even those awful moments against Reggie’s Pacers were this bad in hindsight. They were literally up 9 points with 50 seconds left and they lost. And this is the 3rd time the Pacers have pulled out improbable wins in the past couple of weeks being down big with less than a minute left, which crushed the Bucks and Cavs.
So pardon my lack of optimism for not believing this team will brush off this loss.

I don’t think we can.
But that’s me.
But I’ve watched thousands upon thousands of games.
The playoffs is about momentum and confidence. We have neither after tonight.

The one silver lining about tonight's game is the fact that the Pacers like the Celtics need their 3 pointers to fall in order to win.

Pacers got lucky. I disagreed with the call on OG, . . . don't remember which pacer it was, but there was a shirt grab and a push with one hand, while he hit the ball with the other. Fouls like that aren't always called, but that was a gift to the pacers.
And Luckyburton with the bounce on the shot. He basically missed that shot, but it went in on a lucky bounce. And his foot was on the line. And he does the choke thing anyway - what a clown.
Yes, we chocked the final minute in OT, but this was like those first 2 celtic games. It could have gone either way and probably should have gone to us.
. . .
That said. Indy is fast and athletic and they are probably the best passing team in the league and they hit some crazy 3s down the stretch, but Nesi isn't going to shoot 8 of 9 from 3 most games. The Knicks are more isolationist on offense, but they have weapons. They need to make some adjustments against Indy's style.
It's just one game. Adjust. Adapt. Fight. Win. The series is a long way from over.

F*cking rough. Crowd was stunned and exhausted then rallied then stunned again then exhausted then rallied then stunned. Must be what Boston felt like.
Hope Zarba enjoys his Vegas kickback. That goaltend and the OG reversal, WTFFFF? I was sitting 200 feet from the hoop and could see the goaltend in realtime.
Nesmith won’t have a game like that the rest of his life, and Hali won’t get another Kawhi bounce, so there’s still hope. We need to lock in and murder these clowns.

After seeing his father get thrown out of all NBA games for his unsportsmanlike behavior, I see now where the son gets it from.
Nah, I would've done it, too. If there ever was a time to do it, considering it's etched in our history, it was this game. Would've been corny if it was a close game and he pulled it out, but these guys actually 100% choked.

KAT was the only starter that was a +/- positive. I still see posts here slamming KAT but I really think whatever deficiencies he has in defense is very manageable.

I get it. I do. But you don't lose a 7 game series in one game. I was a math major and I know what 4 means. I know what one means. . . . so fine, be depressed, get mad, get drunk, break something if you have to, but . . . . . . this series is a long way from over.
