I've been thinking about it, and yes, if Lebron signs with Miami, it sucks. Majorly sucks. Maybe I'm in denial (I don't think I am), but I still have faith that we'll be a very good team. We still have tons of flexibility, a true star in Amare, a young stud in Gallo, and two mega stars (CP3 and Melo), along with Tony Parker, that are in limbo. Miami will have three studs, no doubt, though two of them are injury prone. They have nothing else. We have Curry's expiring deal, 17M left, Gallo, etc. I think it would be cool to try and assemble a team to beat them in the playoffs. Think of how great a playoff series with Miami would be.

Four. Hundred. Million.

That's a lot of millions left on the table. For what exactly? Has anybody considered what happens to the Super Trio if they do anything BUT win the championship? They'll be ridiculed and shamed like never before. Conversely, if they roll over all the competition, won't he become universally villanized and have his marketing persona take a hit?

Other than joining the Clippers, this is by far the worst possible financial decision for LeBron. It is exponentially worse from a dollars-and-cents point of view than remaining in Cleveland or going to Chicago or New York.

Something tells me that number is inflated but regardless, he's definitely leaving (at the least) tens of millions on the table annually while sharing the spotlight with two franchise players. Doesn't seem fitting for a guy who set up a primetime 1-hour special and desires to be a billionaire... and probably not a coward.

I'm thinking that is it. Maybe he just wants to play with his boys.

Here is an article that supports the play with his boys theory:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/08/sport ... ml?_r=1&hp

“LeBron loved being part of the Olympic team,” said Colangelo, the chairman of USA basketball. “I remember our first meeting before Beijing in 2008. He stood up and said, ‘I’ve always wanted a point guard like Chris Paul on my team, a guard like Kobe Bryant,’ and so on. And then he said, ‘We have no excuses, so let’s just go win.’ ”

Either way, we are a better team. We'll move Lee in a sign and trade, or sign another player, and be a much better team. With Curry's expiring deal and Melo hanging in the balance, we'll be ok.

If he signs with Miami, can someone photoshop lebron's big head on the artist formerly known as prince' body, because he will no longer be the king, but the clown prince of basketball.

Love him or hate him, Bill Simmons uses logic in his latest column, and I have to agree with him. I think we all do:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/st ... ons/100708

13. I think it's a cop-out. Any super-competitive person would rather beat Dwyane Wade than play with him. Don't you want to find the Ali to your Frazier and have that rival pull the greatness out of you? That's why I'm holding out hope that LeBron signs with New York or Chicago (or stays in Cleveland), because he'd be saying, "Fine. Kobe, Dwight and Melo all have their teams. Wade and Bosh have their teams. The Celtics are still there. Durant's team is coming. I'm gonna go out and build MY team, and I'm kicking all their asses." That's what Jordan would have done. Hell, that's what Kobe would have done.

In May, after the Cavs were ousted in the conference semifinals, I wrote that LeBron was facing one of the greatest sports decisions ever: "winning (Chicago), loyalty (Cleveland) or a chance at immortality (New York)."

I never thought he would pick "HELP!"

That was the conservative figure. Listen to this:

According to that same report LeBron's:

-- Average potential earnings are $200,000,000 more in Chicago or Cleveland.
-- Potential Maximum Earnings are $200,000,000 more in Clev and +300 mil in Chi
-- Potential Maximum Earnings are $1,000,000,000 higher in New York.

That's right... LBJ could make:

ONE. BILLION. DOLLARS.

more potential income in New York than in Miami, according to this report.

BRIAN WINDHORST
@PDcavsinsider: I still have no direct confirmation from LeBron's inner circle on Miami. Maybe they're trying to save suspense in some way.
