Re: KNICKS BEAT HEAT POST GAME THREAD
I didn't want to make a thread on it but Mike Woodson draws up some of the most fantastic plays coming out of timeouts.
That Inbounds play in the 4th Qtr (the one where Wade made great Block on Melo) was beautiful.
Makes you think if Woodson got a full offseason, the Knicks would run more set plays the way the celtics do.

He played a good amount of minutes and we didn't have any steady outside shooting from the support players. This was one time Stat and Melo really were the 1-2 punch which is refreshing. But to pull another one out of the hat there will have to be some more point production from the rest of the team.
There is only one real reason we won.
Heat reserve C Eddy Curry (flu) was not with Miami for the game.

JR DID make one big play.. he drove the lane, faked right and drew wade in for the help. then dished out the bibby for that go ahead three.. that was the biggest play of the quarter.. it was huge and a real nice basketball play by JR..

it was a big play but....the biggest, no way!
i believe lebron hit a 3 after that which JR forgot to switch on and they tied it up...melo then drilled a 3 with 50 seconds left and the clock running down...that was the biggest play

Exactly, but let's leave it at that. We don't need another trade Melo thread after today's win

JR played some great defense today but, man, he puts up so many bricks that i think it negates anything else he does. how can he shoot so badly? i don't understand it.

i concur...one decent play which an nba player should make 10 times out of 10 shouldn't be considered the "best play" of the game...it was the correct play but wade collapsed and JR made the right play.
However that doesn't make up for the countless idiotic plays he made all game...i like JR but 3-15 he almost shot us out of this game and he a few head scratching turnovers to be honest.
Actually if you want to praise JR his best play was stealing the outlet pass to wade a drilling that 3 when we were down 4.
but for us to have any shot JR gotta start hitting those open 3's...it's what he is here to do.

the reason why I say the biggest play is because it gave the knicks a cushion.. lebron made a clutch three, but at that point we were even again... that play by JR and shot by bibby saved what was left of this playoff series if you ask me...

huh??? ur not making any sense. we were tied when bibby made that shot...just like we were tied when melo hit his shot.
Bibby was wide open because melo was doubled passed it to JR who collapsed the defense which then led to bibby hitting the open 3.
Lebron then hits the 3....so 30 seconds after Bibby hit his 3 which un tied the game melo then hit his 3 to untie the game
it was the same exact play in terms of it was tied and we went up 3 it just came later in the game....not sure how the play later in the game isn't bigger...please explain

i never understand why some of you over analyze and bring up things that are irrelevant.. to say it a play that should be made is not true.. wade is a great defener, look closely, Jr made a fake dribble to the lane to draw wade in and then made the propper pass.. it should be done, but most often isn't... then bibby who has been shooting bricks nailed a huge shot..
I think that was the biggest play of the quarter.... I think you somehow changed what I said to biggest play of the game... it doesn't matter if JR made bad plays, heck everyone did... but that play, during that moment, pretty much was a momentum changing play...

no you are not making sense, I said it gave us a cushion, one of three points, the worst that could happen was a tie... of course you want to somehow tie this back to carmelo making this happen, but it was a very good basketball play by JR.. plain and simple..... I never said we were not tied... what are you talking about..
if you can't see how going up three at at that point was probably the biggest play and turning point of that quarter, then really I have nothing more to say..

so what happens when he makes the bone headed play on the next play where he clearly should have switched because of the screen which Lebron nailed a 3 to give miami back all the momentum???
oh wait i think someone made a 3 after JR held the ball for 10 seconds...with 3 seconds left on the shot clock.
I like JR i think he is a good player when he plays the game the right way and like i said JR's play was proper play...it is the play that should be made. you collapse the defense you kick it out...it happens all the time no

Re: KNICKS BEAT HEAT POST GAME THREAD
That shot by Bibby was huge. He had missed a few earlier but hit the biggest one he took. I thought a big difference maker today was Amare and Anthonys ability to draw clutch 3 point plays.

Im just trying to understand ur logic...JR play to bibby put us up 3 with 1:23 left
Melo 3 put us up 3 with 54 seconds left and the worse that could happen would be a tie as well? How are u not getting that? it gave us the same cushion it just happened later in the game which would make it more important no? please see below
1:23 81-84 Mike Bibby makes 23-foot three point jumper (J.R. Smith assists)
1:23 Miami full timeout
1:15 LeBron James makes 24-foot three point jumper (Dwyane Wade assists) 84-84

JR Smith is too much of a chucker though. Made the right decision by passing to Bibby but he doesn't put himself in that situation enough. He can penetrate towards to basket far more if he didn't insist on chucking so many 3 pointers.

ok man.. melo play was the greatest... I give up... jeez
if you can't understand the beauty of that play with JR and bibby, I just can't help you.. I am sure you want me to say that melo saved the day.. Jeez man the knicks are more than just carmelo... appreciate the play by JR and bibby, it was great basketball... the knicks offense was stalling a lot of plays, JR made a great basketball play in that he got wade to commite.... the pas to JR from carmelo was damn near stolen if you forgotten... JR made a heady play.. bibby a Huge shot... it put us up 3, it gave way for carmelo to have an opportunity to make big shots late.. plain and simple...

That Bibby 3pter was the biggest play because it was so unexpected and gave us a 3pt lead. From that point on, the Heat had to catch up to us, meaning they could tie us but not overtake us.
Melo's was a big shot, but we expect it.

i dont think I am missing the point...we can't play a monday morning QB game because say JR takes a contested shot and misses....how do u know miami calls a TO there and sets up that play for LeBron?
because if i remember correctly JR missed about 2 or 3 wide open 3's under 5 minutes to go in the game. If he made those then it wouldn't have been a close play in the 1st place.
like i said before it was a good play...it was the right play...but I can think of 5 bigger plays TBH
