Dude cripples our future by messing up the tank and playing on a damaged knee just to lay some bricks in the ASG and shut it down to get surgery afterwards.

He already said he doesnt really care about an NBA championship too.

He's checked out of Knicks/basketball success (aka what fans want). He's just building his brand in NYC now and being a marquee name playing for the most valuable franchise in the league helps him with that

:rofl2:

Now he crippled the tank and doesn't want to win basketball games.

Anything else? His fault for the food vendors pricing in MSG?

He did cripple the tank. In order to make it into the ASG he statpadded his way against garbo teams like the sixers and davis-less pelicans. those two wins alone wouldve gotten us the worst record had we lost them. He did all this while risking major injury to his knee and shut it down after the ASG.

He stated multiple times that he'd be fine without winning an NBA championships at this point in his career. He's checked out of the basketball success we, as fans, are lookiing for.

What crippled the tank was us winning meaningless games in the final week of the season. Or do we ignore the facts to blame players who didn't even play those games?

Again you're ignoring the damage melo did. Meaningless wins are meaningless wins whether they happen in december or april

We were playing the worst players by the end of the season.

But Melo quit vs. Celtics and Pels twice also. Melo giveth and taketh. Anyway crying and getting thrown out of games was certainly worth its weight in gold in teaching our younger players how to handle the refs.

If he loves New York like he professes to leaving you with a lottery pick is a pretty good parting gift. Not for PJ or the Knicks, but for the fans.

You can't not care about winning AND cripple a tank.

Yea well the PF position was already taken by KP.

You think bringing in LMA to take minutes from KP would be a good thing?

Come on dude, LMA and KP would have just been interchangeable at the 4 and 5 dependent on the matchup. More often than not, KP would have played center. KP ended up showing that he could play more center than some people expected.

Even if Phil said he could play pf, we were coming off 17 wins, and Melo's surgery. He might have considered us a bit more, he was never really picking the Knicks over the Spurs, especially as a native Texan.

CP3 is a free agent. Why doesn't he want to join Melo here?
Lebron was a free agent. Why didn't he want to join Melo here?
Let me guess. It's all Phil's fault.

Are you serious?

Come on man, CP3 not coming to the Knicks has nothing to do with Melo. You can't blame Melo if CP3 trusts Doc Rivers and Mike Woodson as coaches more than he would Jeff Hornacek and Kurt Rambis. You can't blame Melo if CP3 trusts the Clippers' stability as an organization more than the Knicks'.

Lebron leaving for Cleveland had nothing to do with Melo. It might not have even have anything to do with Phil. However, because of Phil's big mouth this season, Lebron won't have anything to do with the Knicks for as long as Phil is in charge. Other than BOMBING on the Anthony Bennett selection, the Cavaliers did almost everything right when it came to rebuilding while Lebron was in Miami. Going back to Cleveland wasn't just a good PR move for Lebron, it was a good basketbal move. A young Kyrie Irving was a better offensive fit alongside Lebron than an old Wade. Kevin Love is arguably as good of an offensive fit beside Lebron as Bosh, except Love is way younger. I don't know how you can make Melo the reason why Lebron picked Cleveland over NY.

PER NEWS REPORTS AND ACTUAL QUOTES FROM PLAYERS, Aldridge wasn't the only one who could have been had by the Knicks.

Summer of 2015, Knicks lost out on Greg Monroe because the Bucks showed him they wanted him more than the Knicks did. Also, the Bucks did a better job of selling him on a "winning" situation than the Knicks.

Not that I fault the Knicks for this, but the Knicks lost out on Dwyane Wade last summer because the Knicks had already made verbal agreements to sign Courtney Lee and Joakim Noah, plus the Derrick Rose trade. Otherwise, had the timing been right and Wade hadn't taken so long to decide he was leaving Miami, we would have had as good of a shot or better to sign Wade than the Bulls.

Melo told Phil during the exit meeting of 2016 that him, KP, and Lopez comprised the best frontcourt in the East. While Melo did like the Derrick Rose trade at the time it happened (admittedly, I liked the Rose trade at the time too), Phil never needed to trade Lopez to appease Melo.

Melo was on board with Phil throughout practically Phil's entire tenure here, even when people in Melo's circle had warned Melo to beware of Phil. Melo only started to question Phil once news reports suggested that Phil's preference was to make Rambis the permanent head coach rather than interview any available candidates. I think even still, Melo continued to have Phil's back UNTIL Phil posted that "leopard" tweet and Charley Rosen acted as Phil's mouthpiece during the season.

I think that's all I can say.

melo to cavs just doesn't make sense for them. they need younger wing defenders. the plethora of vets who hit open 3s didn't work for them this year.

They need scoring to keep pace with the Warriors. There's no young wing defender they're getting.

You need guns to beat guns. LeBron/Kyrie/Melo vs Durant/Curry/Klay is about as even as it gets. 3 and D wing, TT or another rim protector and the wildcard that is JR can pull it off.

So lets work a 3way trade

Melo and a vet to Cleveland

Love and expiring (frye?) to Portland

Crabb_ and change + the 15th and 26th pick to NY

Phil has to find a way to send melo to the cavs whilst finessing a billy king special out of them. only way we can do that is by not asking them to break up their core three. funny thing is, JR and Iman for melo works on the trade checker.

It involved Melo and a good return, so probably more of a fantasy

Swapping Love for Melo doesn't do much in closing the gap. Improve in some places, not in others. But if they find a way to keep Love AND get Melo, that lineup makes little sense. Is Love going to the 5 and TT the bench?

It has to start with, who did CLE seem it's guys? You would think that Kyrie is one of them especially since he has been a lifer. Same with TT, but he may end up the expendable one. Everyone needs a lunch pail guy, but maybe the Cavs will move on from him for a cheaper option?

Perhaps a viable option is to see how cheap you can get Melo to "replace" Love and then shop Love to balance out the fit and maybe finally balancing out the backcourt.

CLE would need to be very busy though. Try to move Frye's expiring for a late pick or Shumps one year deal for late picks.

Bottom line, they likely need to trade either Love or TT and hope to get Melo on the cheap.

As an aside, while GST technically got KD as a FA, it did cost them resigning key guys like Bogut and Barnes. I would be happy with a return like that for Melo. Could Harkless be our Barnes in a 3way with POR? Love to POR for Harkless Crabbe and picks. Melo to CLE for Harkless and pick. CLE then shops picks to balance out roster.

Does KOQ sufficiently replace what TT brings? TT Shump Frye for Melo KOQ - which CLE also sending future picks and perhaps that euro guy they have. The we move TT to a 3rd team. This let's CLE decide if they like Love and Melo or want to move Love to upgrade somewhere else.

You want to get real crazy, what if LAC moves Paul and DJ for Kyrie and Love?

Love had 6 points last night. 6. In a close out game.

Melo would never.
