I think it can't be stated enough - Steve Mills makes the final basketball decisions, not Scott Perry. Don't fall for this 'Perry as GM' stuff. Dude is just there to take the heat.

It's also really funny to me when people knock Perry for bringing in Kanter even though Enes is a bad defender.

What was Perry supposed to do? Refuse the deal and take Ryan Anderson instead?

The expectation that Perry was supposed to fully realize his vision for the team in one off-season with no cap is curious.
Yeah, I don't get it

Kanter was the least unappealing option

Anderson is worse

Buying him out is worse

Can't just keep him and have to deal with the drama all year

dude just got here. what you expect already?

What he said he would do: Young, athletic, defense. Beasley is none of those for instance. Jack is none of those. Sessions was none of those. Kanter barely one of those. Doug is barely one of those. Mills signed Tim who is two of those. I could see what Phil was trying to accomplish, what's frustrating about Perry is the lack of any vision or ability to stay true to it.

just making sure that your disdain for a GM who got the job after working most of the offseason with another franchise is indeed based on:

1. vet minimum signings at the ass end of free agency
2. the results of the much-needed melo trade.

If the Knicks finish LAST they have enough bad luck to not get the first or second pick when the lottery happens.
