Coming off a helluva game like this, why is the focus on picking Obi apart? Y'all sure know how to fk up a vibe. It's ok to say "I'm not sure what we have in player x yet, but I hope he works out the links."

IQ sure is confident in his game, and it shows on the court. Having a pg who is a threat to score the ball (especially from 3), that the defense has to respect, completely opened up the offense.

Bullock did his job knocking down 3's. Again, having two shooters in the backcourt, with our two slashing forwards, makes complete logical sense.

RJ did his thing, with his production almost automatic. His touch on his FT's looks good, impressive improvement by him.

Man yall hate Randle, but he played well. One of the few players who can generate a double, and made good shot/pass decisions for the most part.

Mitch was a beast. Probably the best I've seen him play. Was much more disciplined, and was a force on the boards (at least when playing against Thon).

Thibs needs to keep this starting lineup.

Obi is obviously still finding his way on offense, but needs to be more aggressive. He has great floor vision though, with some of his passes special.

Guess Knox ain't complete trash like he was as of two games ago? Good to see him stay aggressive and knock down some shots.

Harper looked like he could be a solid 3rd pg long term.

So we should have the following locked up:

Mitch/Noel
Randle/Obi
RJ/Knox
Bullock/
Quickly/

Again they signed 3 vet guards we didn't need. I expect they will go with Payton at backup 1 (given the organisations hard on for him) and Burks at backup 2 (given he was our big FA signing). To be fair, Payton may be good for Toppin and getting him going in the pick and roll.

Man the Cavs are trash. Okoro was invisible. Lol at wanting to trade picks for Garland. SMH.

Relax guys, I didn't keep track of who was ready to give up on Knox. But you must've been blind not to see the potential despite a young player's second year struggles.

But as I kept saying: 6'10 fluid athlete, good range, soft jumper and floater, good handles. Way to disregard that...

We're still only at their level too. Garland will still develop. I like where we are, but they are onto something as well.

A few things occured to me, not everything agreeable:

1. I dont think that paytons losing his starting job to njury no matter how much we all may want it however
2. Quickley def played himself into the rotation which means that
3. someones minutes are gonna be taken, which Im fine with but still wondering the wisdom of hiring so many pgs.
4. Its ironic that phil was begging for a triangle coach at the same time thibs was begging for this job and it never occured to phil to hire him.
5. Thibs did what everybody wanted him to do with obi. He played obi as much as possible to try and get him going. While Im not at all giving up on him this early, it's quite concerning he's struggling with the cavs b and c team.
6. Knox started off this hot last year and was even rookie of the month, I'll withhold celebrations until he does this consistently over 1 year.
7. Due to all these injuries, i still dont think most of the rotations locked down. I can see barrett and randle def starting but every other position is up for grabs.

OKoro did worse than ok and DOTson could not live up to his name Getting the dot in the hole. Quickley is quickley changing the heart of many and roaring for that starting position.

Encouraged by Knox but flashes are flashes, not consistency. Skeptical he has the same confidence and flow once Payton, Burks, Noel are starting again or when the opposing team has NBA stars checking him.

Knox looks like a really talented loser without the self-confidence to assert himself. Hopefully he’s like one of those super hot librarians who finally takes her glasses off and lets her hair down.

I know it's sacrilege to say anything good about Randle on this forum but he just looks better to me under Thibs. Less boneheaded plays. Not as selfish. To early yet we will see.

If we play IQ as starter all the time he will be ROY contender. The guy plays hella smart and makes everyone around him better, he plays defense, he is not limited only to shooting or dribbling, he is doing both. I might even say pure talent wise he looks to be our brightest prospect.

Thibs needs to step up with authority and start the season with IQ. Feck Elfrid, feck Frank. Go back to them if IQ fails. But absolutely no reason not to start him given his current shape. He looks like a beast.

Thibs will end up starting Rivers at PG. The NYK point guard competition has a high frequency but very low wavelength. IQ doesn’t need to be a beast to win out, he just needs to keep spiking a few good performances. Of course Thibs has a history of preferring vets.

It’s not about being under Thibs. That second game against the Pistons was not good. It’s the spacing and play of IQ that’s allowed him to have more opportunities passing and scoring the ball in easier situations. IQ is not a guy that holds the ball long either so the constant exchanging of the ball is influencing Randle to be more of a team player.

Obi will be fine, he's cerebral, smart, has good vision, gives good effort on defense, ia a team player. Doesn't make bone headed turnover plays like Randle does. He really just needs to develop a handle to create space on the wing so he can pull up on jumpers. That's something that Randle actually can do. I have confidence he will develop that throughout the year.
