In any case and I'm going to say it now...if the Knicks can within reason and trade up, they need to trade up. None of this trade down crap for more future picks in the late 1st or early 2nd nonsense. They need the best chance as possible to draft someone that can actually be an impact talent, a star. They don't need more "boy he's a nice looking role player!". Those you can sign (hopefully the next time around for market value instead of crazy value).

I just remember in 2019 all we heard was "It's a 3 player draft" over and over, until the moment we became the 3rd pick, then the same people who kept saying it was a 3 player draft were all of a sudden apoplectic over the fact we got the 3rd pick in a 2 player draft.

A few years later and 2019 is still a really shallow draft compared the 2018, 2020, and 2021. I think less than 10 guys are consistent key contributors to their team

we're due for some lottery luck, tho I doubt this is the year. if we jumped from ~10 to the top 4, that'd feel so good

even without moving up, I'd be ok with getting TyTy who should be available around our pick

If we get a top 2 pick, I legit could see F.O. trading down because “wE aLrEaDy HaVe OuR pF In RaNdLe” and select Ivey (who would be a great SG on this team) which would mean Grimes off the bench with Cam.

If we do that we look like (and yes, Thibbs would start this lineup too) :

Burks / Rose /McBride
Fournier / Ivey / IQ
RJ / Grimes / Cam
Randle / Obi
Mitch / Noel / Sims

We desperately need a PG still (shocker). So our goal at the deadline is to trade : Burks, Fournier, Noel, IQ, Randle (or Obi. Can’t keep having both. Either commit to the tank or not).

Maybe Burks + Obi to Det (to be involved in whatever deal they do to get Grant out) for a first in return

Randle + IQ + Dallas 1st + Detroit 1st (see above)+ Noel + NY 2023 first for Zion

Rose to a contender for a 1st

Then we become happy :

Ivey could very well be a top 2 pick. would love to draft him. but the fit w/ Randle, RJ, Mitch would be questionable at best. spacing wouldn't be good, very little perimeter shot creation

in a perfect world, we could trade Randle for another lotto pick (w/ performance like this past week, he still has value), draft Jabari and then use the Randle pick to get TyTy

I've heard that comp a bit for TyTy

there are some similarities, neither are the quickest and both rely on the floater a bit too much rather than taking it all the way to the rim

TyTy tho has a better handle, he's a better facilitator, and I buy his jump shot more. Quickley has more of a push shot, which makes it harder to get his shot off (esp. in the mid range). IQ is all 3's and floaters, whereas TyTy has a nice mid-range pull-up game
