Personally, I think Towns looked a bit down when talking about playing in the Garden because he was also talking about how much the Garden meant to his mother and probably also thinking about how much it would have meant to her to see him here at that moment.

I think he was fighting back getting choked up.

That first interview was painful to watch. Dude does NOT want to be here.

The man is in shock and probably hurt. Similar to guys like KG and Dame Lillard he wanted to be a guy who helped the team that drafted him reach the apex. He was also close to getting there before the rug was pulled out from under him. It's hard to have a personal goal/mission like that taken away from you. He will get over it and he will pour that loyalty and dedication into the Knicks and his hometown fans. Give the guy a break and some time.

I can absolutely relate to the idea of badly wanting to raise a nothing team up to prominence. The Knicks aren't that but they have their own interesting scenario of being a historic franchise that hasn't felt historic worthy in a very long time. He will have a chance to change that and I can easily see him latching on to that ideal.

Rose and company have been molding this team more and more into a team that can truly win a championship playing in Thibs system.

RJ was inefficient, not a good 3 shorter and therefore kind of redundant to Hart except not as good defensively.

Quickly could not really play the 1 and didn't have ideal length for what Thibs wants at 2. And of course wanted big money. McBride is almost what Quickley is but at a 5th of the cost.

Randle was also a very erratic 3 point shooter and ball stopper who did not play defense. Absolutely a monster scorer but no where near as efficient as KAT. KAT also fits next to Brunson.

Losing DDV hurts the most because he has infinte range but we spent 5 first round picks to aquire Bridges. The value of something is a determined by how much willing to pay for it. Five first round pics i's huge value. It is obvious that Thib's values , his elite defense and length at the 2 (and sometimes 3 spot) more than DDVs 3 point shooting.

Couple that with having Mcbride who then shorter than DDV actually has a longer wingspan than him.He also can somewhat offset losing Dante with his development arc continuously improving. So Im not as devastated about
Losing Dante as I originally was.

We also brought in veterans that are more than camp fodder in Shamet and Payne. These guys can provide quality bench minutes.

I think Thibs has been slowly giving that level of trust he had for IQ to Duece. I think our staff believes he is capable or else you don’t send Donte out. The Can Payne signing is a CYA move, but Duece probably has levels they seen in practice we haven’t seen yet. I expect him to have a good season showing those levels with a longer leash.. plus come post season if we are mostly healthy bridges most likely will be there to be the primary option.

Deuce has way more trust that IQ based on earning it. Dude's first foray into the playoffs and he nailed it versus elite competition on the biggest stage in the NBA. And TJ Warren can still get buckets,,,he was lighting up Mikal in practice...

That isn't concerning? TJ Warren is lighting up Mikal? TJ hasn't been in the league and excelled when there was no fans.

Get on your D, Mikal. He alao got lit up by Fortnite as a rookie which is why we didn't draft him.

Another note on how awesome a dude Towns is and how much he meant to the community. This is a great tidbit at the end of the Jon K podcast, KAT was always doing things for others. Even when new teammates would come to town from a trade KAT would show up to greet them and give them winter gear lol. I think this is the best knicks team on paper for me as a Knicks fan. I have my concerns with KAT and it's tough seeing Randle gone, but I see the upside with this move. Seeing that we brought in Mark Bryant and Pat Ewing now, the Knicks are trying to get all the help they can to help KAT succeed. You just have to hope things are different now with KAT and Thibs.
