Amazing that it wasn't a bad photoshop job, and that they actually misplaced the 25 on the jersey

I'm gonna hold up on evaluating. This trade shook up the whole landscape of free agency and he traded neither cap space or picks to do it. If he gets the big one... that's what you hope to get anyway through the long road. You can do a lot with that team going forward.
That's true. My Durant pessimism is pretty unwavering, and so I'll gladly eat crow if and when. Horford would be alluring to be sure, but it would take a pretty meteoric leap from KP earlier than we expect for that core to well and truly contend.
My overall outlook is based on the Knicks' repeated failures to build a team in one summer. In my mind, the Rose trade marked the end of an 18-month period (beginning with the JR/Shump trade) during which Phil was building a team more or less the way I would do it. But that's why he's making 12 mil a year, and I'm sitting here posting on a basketball forum.
That's more or less where I was at. This business with Durant going to the Hamptons for his interview though... that's really intriguing. That's Dolan's BBQ. He's interested.
When Phil started here, Abe and I had a series of private convos figuring that Durant was the end game for PJax. He's the exact kind of player that Jackson would be target to push from a great player to a champion. The fact that they're gonna sit down together is pretty f'n exciting. All of this preliminary stuff is setting up getting him in the room and once he's in the room... you have Phil Jackson telling him how he's going to create a champion out of him.
If he misses - yeah, Horford or Batum would be nice. Maybe they'll just get some 1 years though and kick the can for the next ridiculous scenario.

Hungry to prove doubters like myself wrong, and hungry to win. I felt that interview. Came off as real.
Phil needs to do a good job filling out the roster. We can surprise people next season.

You're probably going to hate hearing this, but Stephen A has also always said that Phil was brought here with KD in mind![]()
Perhaps. But everything he's said from the opening presser in March of '14 on has indicated that he cares more about culture than any single player. But Phil has never tipped his hand, so maybe he's been thinking Durant this whole time.
As for the Hamptons, it doesn't mean too much to me. Especially because Phil's in LA over the summer anyway. The Hamptons are lit... I don't blame him for having meetings out there!

It's not a tough argument to come by, really. I don't think it was Durant or bust in his mind as it is with the fans but Jackson always has several threads going. KD fits in any great culture team scenario and he's got a shot to get him. Why not take it?
If he misses, it'll be interesting to see what tack they take. Maybe they trade BOTH Melo and Rose midseason for youth. Phil doesn't seem to leave any big option closed.

Not yet to my knowledge but MSG will be re-airing it all night.

It's Twitter, not a Press Release bro.
I for one am happy with the media guys at MSG.
