"but his athleticism (predraft-combine-high 42-inch vertical leap), two-way mentality and overall attitude won over the Knicks (and for the record, that last category was deemed incredibly important because of the star-studded New York locker room and wasn't considered Singleton's strong suit)"

Maybe Im reading too much into it

No Shumpert in this game, but interesting:

For more than a dozen of the NBA’s top rookies, Thursday night’s exhibition game in Provo, Utah, organized by former BYU star Jimmer Fredette, was a chance to block out dire news of a potential long lockout and just play.

They didn’t disappoint the 11,124 fans who turned out for a high-scoring, FredetteAboutEverything all-star game.

In the end, the team captained by former San Diego State star Kawhi Leonard and coached by the Aztecs’ Steve Fisher left with a 140-126 victory over Team Fredette.

Wow, that drew a ton of fans. I'm sure the game coming up with Melo and all the other stars will draw a lot as well.

Didn't see this posted. Every video of this kid gets me even more excited of seeing him play in MSG. He has all the tools and attitude to be an All Star :)

Impressive.

Now imagine if we drafted Shumpert and Selby (instead of Jorts). This board would be going crazy.

Selby would have been the wrong pick...so yes, we would have been going crazy. Jorts and Shumpert are a perfect fit.

Jorts might not even make the team. Not sure how he is the perfect fit. Yes, we needed a big man, but I would much rather sign a veteran big man over Jorts. Not sure Jorts is even better than Shelden Williams, who is a much better defender.

Currently on the roster we have Billups, Toney, Fields, Melo, Walker, Iman, Balkman, Brown, Stoudemire, Turiaf, Rautins and Jordan. That's 12 out of 15 spots.

You have to figure Shawne Williams and Jeffries are locks to come back. Mason Jr. is still a possibility. That's likely 14 out of 15.

If we sign anyone else in free like VC or Kurt Thomas.

We also invited Julyan Stone to our training camp before the lockout. Staff must be high on him.

Jorts will be fighting for that last spot against Rautins, Brown, Jordan, and any other invites.

And Selby would be a lock to make the team with Billups/Toney/Fields/Walker/Iman/Rautins?

What would be the point in drafting Selby? It would have been a stupid pick, Brown may not be on the team, Walker may not be on the team and Rautins could get cut too. I dont see us bringing back Jeffries either, and Mason JR will 100%not be back.

I think Jorts will make the team and will play some solid minutes as well.

Better chances than an undersized Center that has conditioning issues and is a below average athlete.

Selby is insanely talented and has trade value regardless if he plays or not.

Jorts is a fringe NBA player.

Jorts is not out of shape and he is a hustle big man...something we need. There would be no point to have another guard behind our other guards. And he cant have that much Value if he was drafted in the middle of the 2nd round...

Drafting Selby would have been better. It be a no-brainer to release Rautins for him, after next season the guy could be a great combo guard off the bench. But you know what they say, shoulda coulda didn't. Harrellson is a strong guy and if he comes in for ten minutes and gives it his all I'd say that be a job well done.

Selby slipped on draft day because teams were worried about a knee injury that he had. Looking at how he played in the Vegas League, his knee doesn't seem to be an issue anymore.

Have you seen Jorts lately? We have no idea whether he is in shape or not. Or if he has even played basketball once all summer. He will have to prove me wrong. Besides I never said he was out of shape, I said he had conditioning issues which was true at Kentucky. Harrelson barely played until his Senior year because Coach Cal basically embarrassed him and forced him to get into shape.

Acually i have seen JOrts lately and he is not out of shape. How is having conditioning issues not saying hes out of shape?

We dont need another combo guard off the bench, where will we find the minutes for Selby to play? Whats he gunna play 10 mpg? With the rest of our guards, there is no room. He isnt a pure point, he is another combo guard. Something we dont need.
