Not really. I'm not convinced either way but the point is that at best you can call it 50/50.
So all the no way, no way, no way was way too much.
true but honestly everybody was calling it that way. the felton trade threw everybody for a loop.

Pharm, he isn't coming back. It's no coincidence that Mike Woodson was raving about having vets on this team and how Melo "joked" about CP3 coming here in a few years.

Houston can kick rocks. And then when they strike out on Howard we can turn around and give them Lin for the price of picks, young players and taking STAT's contract. The end.
You got Lin as our starting shooting guard? Stupid!
Seeing as Lin was 2 guard I don't see how it's that stupid.
That was years ago in college, the Ivy league. He's not a starting SG for our Knicks.

towelie wrote:What is with Knicks fans and hating on players who try and get the most money they possibly can? Why do you have this mentality that, "if they don't take a paycut, then they truly don't care about the Knicks at all"?
Melo didn't take a paycut. Amar'e didn't take a paycut. Tyson didn't take less to play for the Knicks, and both Kidd and Camby, two players who'll be over 40 by year 3 (and because of luxury tax, will cost Dolan $24M combined), would not have come here if all we offered was the vet min. We had to use up exceptions/give up assets to get them here. In fact, Stoudemire and Melo's contracts actually limited our cap room last year, whereas if they had taken a few million less like LeBron, Wade, and Bosh had, we would've had room for another max last summer.
On the other hand, Lin's contract has ZERO impact on our future maneuverability. It's just luxury tax money out of Dolan's pockets. Which is why I don't get why screaming Stephen A. Smith and his legions of lemming followers even give a sh*t. Dolan paid upwards of $120-130M on lottery teams, and yet he doesn't want to match Jeremy Lin? Lin will generate enough revenue to offset the tax hit on his own. Getting fatass Felton is a downgrade, no matter how you try to sugar up his short stint as a Knick.

Re: Felton traded to Knicks; Not matching Lin? (part 3)
I love when people bring up Lin's 7 game win streak playing against teams like the Nets, Wizards, Jazz, Minn, Kings, Raps and oh one good team LAL. Sense Lin started playing heavy minutes we only won 6 meaningful games vs teams over 500: LAL, Phi, IND (2), Atl, and Dal, but on that same note we lost 7 games vs teams above 500: Dal, Chi, Mia, SAS, Mil, Phi, and Bos in-which teams like MIa exposed his inability to go left.
Now dont get me wrong I like Lin and I would like him back, but not at that price. He avg. 14.6 ppg, 6.2 apg, 3.2 TO, and 1.6 St. Raymond Felton avgs: 13.4 ppg, 6.7 Apg, 2.6 TO, and 1.4 St. I'll Take Felton any day at the price we're getting him and I;m sorry niether of these are Allstar numbers! Felton found ways to make Stat play to the best of his ability and made both Galo and W. Chandler look good. Lin only made Chandler and Novac look good.

from what your saying is that the only few people that actually knew the terms of the offer sheet would be Morey, Lin, and Lin's agent. So one of them leaked it (lets say it was morey because he wanted to f*ck the knicks) and no one denied the reports (lin or lin's agent).
that sounds to me that Lin didn't want to come back...no?
how else do you get those reports>???
The one thing the really, really upset among us have failed to realize that amnestying Scola and taking Dragic's cap hold of their books changed the Rockets cap room.
They potentially COULD now offer a larger poison pill than they could before that.
I think it's entirely possible the terms leaked we're discussed, but that the Rockets situation was fluid, which would explain why the offer sheet didn't come until AFTER they amnestied Scola, rather than before.
Its entirely possible and totally credible they raised the offer DAYS after they were allow to submit it to Lin because they could, and there plan changed during the process.
Houston and Lin did NOTHING underhanded, as defined by the rules of the CBA, which is ALL that matters.
Again, reasonable, rational explanations for the change are being rejected in favor of the idea Houston had ANY reason to sign Lin to an offer sheet that would have been a gift to the Knicks "too good to be true".

why is the contract even an issue? we are the new york knicks. we overpay. melo's the third best sf in basketball, and he's the highest paid. amare's not even top 5 at his position and he's the 2nd highest paid.

He's the one that wanted Lin to play in the first place...Lin confirmed this story himself...so what do you say about that. Melo does not make the moves for this franchise
Actually I don't think Lin ever confirmed it. I think he reaction was 'Wow, really, I didn't know that.' D'antoni outright denied it.

I happen to think the people who think they aren't matching are going to be feeling pretty silly come Wed. morning.
The ones who felt that Lin would be matched, myself included, was solely because of the view that Lin is a "cash cow".
That has always been the premise.
If they don't match, then the ownership doesn't feel that way.
Which is why that premise was always nothing more than an assumption. It's just one of many factors i.e. one of the articles talked about how Dolan puts a premium on "loyalty" and how Lin's actions could be perceived as rocking the boat.
Dolan likes yes men. That's why no PJax and probably why no Lin. The guy has a lot of money and the ego to match.
Play time is over.

CHEAP! CHEAP! are u serious...
so 30 million over 4 years for a guy that played 25 games is cheap???
granted that 25 game stretch was very good...but he got a great offer still 30 million isn't cheap its a good fair offer that no one would ever get for just a 25 game stretch
