If we could get Gordon for Chandler and then pull a Dragic deal...I'd rather do that than deal so much for Rondo.

I'd rather have Dragic + Asik then just Rondo but that's not how the FO thinks.

What deals are you thinking for those two? It seems like a realistic option and I'd like it but that's probably the two least marketable names they can get so you know it ain't going down like that. :-?

Phoenix has multiple 1st round picks this year, so maybe they could give up the worst one and send it over to Houston.

I think the only way that Boston will give Rondo to the Knicks is if the Knicks offer them Melo and 3 future first round picks.

I wouldn't pull the trigger on that deal if i'm the knicks.

We keep shumpert which is great...however we are back having the same issues as last year. Melo is the only legit scorer and now JR is required to be the #2 guy.

1. Melo
2. JR
3. Dragic

that is not a very good offensive team.

I hate saying this but trading Bargs is not a viable option right now. We need his scoring.

We are getting absolutely killed on Twitter by national writers for thinking we can trade for rondo.

I think it's safe to say that we are once again the laughing stock of the league.

Knicks do not have nearly what it takes to get Rondo. An offer featuring Shump/THjr/2018 first is the best we can offer and I don't think that would get Ainge very excited.

That's dumb though, why WOULDN'T they practice due diligence? They got mocked for the Bron-stakes, the Melo trade talks, inquiring about CP3 and it just never stops...it's no big deal.

Gerald Wallace & Courtney Lee would not damage our 2015 dream if we deal Felton & JR in the deal. Plus if we keep our next available 1st round pick til 2015. By the time 2015 offseason comes, Wallace & Lee will be expirings. If we don't already deal them in a package with Bargs for Kevin Love in a sign & trade (we'd be under the salary cap at the time to perform that), then we could do a Warriors/Jazz type deal that opened cap space for them to get Iguodala. We'd just have to add our next available 1st round pick in the deal, & by 2015, the pick would look more realistic to make an impact in any type of deal compared to now.

Now let me get a crack at this.

Phoenix is a good match for a 3rd team. Maybe help them get a SG they've desired without giving up their expiring(s) or 2014 1st rd picks.
Something like;

Knicks get - Rajon Rondo (BOS), Gerald Wallace (BOS), Brandon Bass (BOS), Courtney Lee (BOS) & Keith Bogans (BOS)

Celtics get - Goran Dragic (PHX), Iman Shumpert (NYK), Channing Frye (PHX), Amar'e Soudemire (NYK), Jason Smith (NOP) & 2015 1st (PHX)

Suns get - Eric Gordon (NOP) & Raymond Felton (NYK)

Pelicans get - Tyson Chandler (NYK) & JR Smith (NYK)

Knicks: Evidently Rondo is the main piece. Another thing to note with Wallace & Lee is that they'd likely be plugged right into the starting line-up. Which would essentially build their trade value playing with Rondo, Melo & Bargs. So they'd be known as starters AND expirings by the time 2015 comes around.

Celtics: Only player on a 3-year deal the Celtics will receive is Goran Dragic & by his 3rd yr, it may be a steal of a deal compared to Wallace's & Lee's contracts. Add in Shump to plug in between Dragic & Jeff Green. Frye & Amar'e both as expirings next season. Jason Smith an expiring now. Keeps 2 1st picks for 2014 & then add a 2nd 1st round for 2015.

Suns: They get a player they craved for awhile & it's not Shump. Instead, it's Eric Gordon & now they have Eric Bledsoe to pair with him. They could essentially do a separate deal for Gordon with OK4's expiring, but us dealing Chandler saves the Suns OK4's expiring, which means they save a lot of money this off-season, to sign an impact player to that team. Plus they keep both 2014 1st rd picks.

Pelicans: Simple. They swap Gordon out (a luxury) with Tyson (a need) & Tyson expires sooner than Gordon. JR can fill in for Gordon for the time being scoring wise. His contract will allow him to always be trade-able in a season or 2.

Rondo/Prigs/Beno
Lee/TImmy
Wallace/Artest
Melo/Bass-KMart
Bargs/KMart-Tyler

This belief that the Knicks shouldn't do things because of what might be said on Twitter is a bit ridiculous to me.

It's strictly a big deal because it's NY. I'm sure if we were privy to trade proposals that other teams prepare we'd see many ridiculous offers out there. Again, we're killed in the media because it's NY. Just gotta deal with it. No big deal for me.

I think we can get Rondo, if we find the right taker for Chandler. A Championshio contender might give a good return for Chandler's 1 1/2 years.

Just goes to show also that people on this board overrate the players on this team to much. Anyone looking at the games can see Shump is not that good. In hindsight knicks should have got rid of Shump last year.

How did this even start? Is this all from Isola saying the Knicks are interested in Rondo? That's it? Of course we are! We're interested in LeBron too. And Durant. And Kevin Love. We don't have the assets to get any of those guys though. It will be nearly impossible to make any major moves to improve our team. That's the way this roster is constructed right now.

It doesn't have to be an extreme in both directions. Its like Shump has to either be a future star that can get Rondo or a bum that we dump for scraps.

Why can't Shump just be a solid young player in the rotation for the Knicks that we just keep and develop? He won't be a star, but can be a solid contributor that helps us win games. For a mid round pick, that is good.

Rondo (former Pierce & KG teammate) vs. Deron (Nets plan B to Carmelo)
Lee (former Pierce & KG teammate) vs average Joe (almost was a Knick with Amar'e)
Wallace (former Net) vs Pierce (the Wallace upgrade & former Rondo mentor/teammate)
Melo vs KG (cheerios & former Rondo mentor/teammate)
Bargs (soft) vs Brook (soft)

Knicks/Nets Rivalry smells like peak money.

That would be fine if he wasn't so inconsistent. He does nothing great consistently. That's his problem. Until he provides something every night that only a few players in the league can do then he will not stick with a team long term. I know he's liked by the younger posters but he's just not a good nor smart player right now in his career.

Rondo is not happening unless he's a FA. Besides not having assets and the Celtics/Knick rivalry standing in the way, this talk is way too public. There are exceptions but I think when rumors of trades get too public, it usually doesn't happen.

Knicks targeting Rajon Rondo but a Boston deal with Houston (Asik & Lin) makes sense. Ainge, McHale & Daryl Morey all have Celtics ties.

I feel like we need a separate thread for this just because this trade talk might be going on for a while.

I just can't imagine Ainge making a trade with the Knicks when he has those kind of ties with the Rockets / better options.

But Knicks would be willing to take back bad contracts that Houston probably won't.

A better scenario is a multi-team deal where Houston gets Jeff Green to play PF next to Dwight and other pieces and keeps Lin.

Why is there a belief that Boston cares about salary relief?
