Maybe the worst thing I've ever seen proposed.

Yea...

I just don't know that after these finals if Melo would be willing to go anywhere other than Cleveland. No team other than the Cavs seems to have a shot, teams might not be willing to make deals, like what we witnessed at the deadline. It's a horrible trade even if we get a haul of picks.

Framework:
Melo KOQ 26 to CLE
Love Frye to POR
Harkless another bad contract (Turner? Crabbe?) and 15 and 20 to NY

I don't like what it does to our cap space going forward, but I don't consider Harkless a bad contract, so it's only one bad contract coming in. Don't mind losing KOQ because we may not pay up for him next season anyway.

CLE gets a little more than just swapping Love for Melo. KOQ allows them to consider moving TT. The pick compensates for the age Gap between Melo and Love.

POR gets a big 4 of sorts with Dame, CJ, Nurkic and Love

Carmelo for Kevin Love is almost a certainty. Only thing that can stop it is if Carmelo acts like a dick and says he wont leave NY.

Carmelo has a player opt out after next season and at worst has only 2 seasons on contract. No risk for Cleveland really.

Disagree. Melo would be deadly coming off picks with Lebron setting him up.
Lethal actually.

No, no I agree with that. If he actually got to play with lebron earlier in his career they would've killed it together. My point is that what melo will bring isn't the biggest need for cleveland right now. They don't need more shooters, they need plus defenders who can guard the perimeter.

Melo/LeBron pick n roll both ways would be deadly.

idk about that.

defense doesnt really mean anything when you're up against golden state.

what killed cleveland last night, and in general, were the huge gaps of not being able to score. cleveland was winning until GS went on a 17-0 or 19-2 run or some **** and that was that.

First of all, with Melo the cavs would be able to field their own death line up. Love-Melo-LeBron-JR-Kyrie. Melo is not absolutely terrible when he defends 4s closer to the basket. he has good hand speed and footwork

But really Cleveland really needs more offensive firepower to roll with the warriors, especially half court offense where melo shines. Kyrie is the only bonafide scorer from the perimeter/wing. Lebron struggles posting up against draymond and iguodala and is forced to shoot when the warriors pressure him farther from the basket. Kyrie is there to help but he is inconsistent against the length of the warrios' defenders.

Someone like melo can't be shut down by anybody on the warriors which relieves a **** of pressure on lebron

It's easier to get a scorer to play defense than it is to get a defender to be an effective scorer.

Cavs also need a more consistent Center. Thompson is trash, all he does is push guys in the back and rebound.

The number of open looks the warriors got in that series was embarrassing. They're an all time great team, so of course they're going to score at will, but it looked like they were practicing out there at times. Vets who can't stay in front of their man were leaving an open lane to the hoop. I just don't think they're jumping to trade for melo. I'd love to be wrong assuming we get some assets back.

I think it's Melo plus something else.

1, 3 and 4 should be Kyrie, LeBron and Carmelo.

Add in a versatile F/C who can protect the rim, run the floor, maybe step out and hard hedge the pick n Roll and hit free throws. Then a legit 3/D wing who can guard 2-4 vs the Warriors.

tristan thompson has got to be the worst starting center in basketball, if his best strength is defense then have him come off the bench.

he's also 6'9" which is useless. he's lucky to be riding coattails of lebron/kyrie

I agree that Melo is not the answer to the Cavs struggles but what Melo is is another dangerous weapon that the cavs can make use of when the offense is struggling, which, while rare, generally speaking, is too often in the face of a warriors team that can blow the doors of a team at will no matter what kind of defense the team is playing.

Melo can only help the cavs. There is no defense that the Cavs could assemble that can slow down the ball movement and the individual talent of the Warriors. Simply isnt happening. The best you can do is add more offense in the hopes of relieving pressure off of lebron and let lebron shine as the best player in the world. With melo on board the warriors cant simply flood lebron with a durant/iggy/draymond defensive assignment since that leaves the risk of Melo scoring.

Even solid 2 way players arent going to help the cavs much. theyll just continue to focus on lebron and gamble on average offensive players beating them.

This is pointless. We get nothing. The 15th and 20th aren't worth jack ****. Cleveland is intending to try to trade Love to Pelicans for Cousins, so if you want to make a 3 team trade, pack melo to cle, cle packs Love to Pelicans, and pelicans send Cousins to us.

Why the hell would we want to pack melo and add OQ for basicly 1 more first round pick if portland is giving away 1 pick just to shed contracts.

Portland's got first round picks, they can try to pack them up and get a better pick. F*** them, their worthless picks and their bad contrats.

Pacers said they ain't trading him. Cavs will have to put together a huge offer and they have no resources.

There's little chance they get George and I doubt he wants to play there. He seems keen on LA.
