Not having his stretched salary on our cap for years to come is something of value.

Buying him out is insanity. He wasn't the primary problem with the team last season.

Would Love this trade:
New York gets - Evan Turner, Meyers Leonard, All-Farouq Aminu, Ed Davis
Houston gets - Carmelo Anthony
Portland gets - Ryan Anderson, Trevor Ariza, Joakin Noah, Top 10 protected Houston 1st

In the sense they are both decent players who do some things well on the court and other things not so much. Both are over paid but not so overpaid you go that is a terrible horrible contract. He is a piece that can help people not like lets so Noah which is terrible contract. The Anderson and THjr contracts are just bad not terrible. They are players that can still be productive.

The damage is done. I'd say there is no chance Melo is on this team.

To be fair many of those posters came to the site because of Lin, remember the influx of Lin themed handles rolling through for those few weeks? Also Lin is better than Gallow, Lin has been a pretty productive even with the bouncing around from team to team he's done but more to his popularity is he is a one of a kind cultural icon.

Lin is better than LG.
Still, that's low expectations for an icon.

Yes, because Asian-American basketball players who were 4 year college players from Harvard have high expectations on them, right?
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Doesn't play any defense (unlike Hardaway), contributes nothing other than volume scoring (albeit, he's got solid efficiency), is a horribly rebounder, would take minutes away from our young bigs...and his contract doesn't end for a while. Under no circumstance should we be taking back his contract.

I'm part of the camp that THJr will be worth it - good scorer, solid efficiency, he's a good defender, and he's still young who has improved since his last rookie year. Overpaid? Slightly...but it's the going rate...and he's better than guys who got similar contracts.

If the Knicks goal is to just get rid of him, the buyout is the best choice for the Knicks. Melo isn't going to net you anything of value here.

The well is already poisoned with Mills back in full command...might as well bring Melo back and embrace full MSG chaos like the mid 2000's.

There's a rumored Cavs offer of Frye,Shump,RJ,Osman.
The cap savings from that alone would be better than a buyout.

Even if that offer is not actually on the table,
the Knicks have nothing to gain from a buyout at this point.

Makes more than Timmy, older than Timmy by years & I don't even think he plays at a high level anymore - so his play isn't even as good as Timmy's.

I love LG, but Lin is much better than him. Please.

I'm not advocating it. It's just better than trading him for other bad contacts.

At this point they should just bring him back and embrace being a clown show.

noah and ryan anderson together would be the worst collection of contracts that any team in the nba has with the exception of portland. who for some reason people think are gonna take ryan anderson. none of this makes sense. welcome to realgm.

The Knicks dont need to trade Noah. And they sure as hell don't need to trade him while getting back almost the same amount of dead cap space.
They likely wont be competing in 2018's FA pool. They would be better off stretching his last 2 years than taking back that garbage if they really needed cap space in the summer of 2018.

Return to New York Knicks
