Wow - he scores a lot on uncontested layups and dunks on the break, and lightly defended dunks around the basket. He did hit a 3, and looked to be in shape.

If he doesn't play better for us this year, I'm thinking FIBA translates poorly to the NBA.

It was against Romania. They defend like this since the 15th century.

Going to the game today as well. Should be a great game. This will be as competitive as a friendly match gets.

Kuz said that KP asked our NT coach to play him at the 5 so Kuz wouldn't destroy him at the 4. :D That's the nature of this game. :) Our guys also have been talking smack to Lithuanians. So it should be very competitive. The LAT-LIT games have always been competitive, even back when they were not as close.

This illustrates how friendly these games have been in the past. This was far too much though. Kambala had just returned to basketball from boxing (he had been disqualified from basketball for 2 years for using cocaine) and was way over line. :D

Competitive is nice, I just don't want any injuries :) But since you guys don't have Kambala anymore, it probably won't be an issue :D I think both Latvia and Lithuania can go pretty far in the EuroBasket this year.

I hope we put Motiejunas on Porzingis, at least he has some speed to try to stay with KP. Valanciunas is just too **** slow for that.

yeah, I guess I don't have to stream it today on youtube, if it shows on that FB page again, there will be the quality a lot better.
Celtics fan.
We also face the Kings twice in the near future. I think it's time Yabu pays back some of that free money he's been given his entire career and bounces Fox for a nice 2 week ankle sprain.

That facebook link should be going live about half an hour before that, but probably they will start by just talking and maybe showing some highlights from other friendly games.

Do you realize how many Americans are excited about a basketball game between two countries so small that most Americans didn't know even the first thing about them before we drafted KP? Seriously, I learned about them because I studied the Soviet Union a bit, and realized how important it was the former "satellite" nations regained their freedoms. But most of us had no idea.

Now, there's lots of folks who are excited and thinking "these two countries are cool." I really think so - there's a lot to like about the culture of 2 nations who recently regained their freedom and have done so well. So this game is a really happy event, not only because we get to see great basketball and 2 of our players, but for all those other reasons.

Also, I finally get to hear some of the players' names being pronounced by a native speaker, the way they should be. (Names almost always sound better when pronounced by a native speaker of the language than the way we try to say them.)

Do some of you guys live in Europe? I read your posts and I get the feeling some of you are. Did you follow the Knicks when KP joined?

I've started following the Knicks quite closely once KP got drafted. Before that I was mainly following the Raptors and only visited the Knicks board for some schadenfreude

Well there must be a few Latvians and I guess Lithuanians too :) KP is probably the reason why I started following NBA again, I used to be a fan in 1990s and watched games whenever I could. Knicks was one of my favourite teams then, because of the great Patrick Ewing.
