Re: Knicks-Heat PG Thread
KP has been the best young player the Knicks have had since Ewing. Yet, we got bozos talking crap about him? Please, this is why I try to avoid this board. The knee jerk reactions after every got damn game is ridiculous. It feels like the reactions are from folks that started watching basketball a year ago or something. Not everyplayer is Lebonr or MJ. They take time to reach their full potential. KP is only 22 for goodness sake.

He needs an X-Man\Oakley\Mase type sidekick to scare the **** out of guys who trying to push KP around.
he needs the modern NBA equivalent. draymond green.
steven adams would work too.
robin lopez was a pretty good center for him.
healthy noah fits the mold.

Re: Knicks-Heat PG Thread
KP is the least of our problems. He's hurt and in a funk. He'll be fine. He's 22 and already shown he can play.
It's the rest of the roster that stinks. Going forward, the only for sure guys I'd keep are Kanter and Beasley and only if the price is right. Everyone else can go. I was high on Billy but something is wrong if he can't play ahead of KO and that corpse Noah. I know everyone here loves Ntilikina but he is AWFUL offensively. Maybe he will get better but as of now I haven't seen much to be hopeful. You can't win with your PG averaging less then 10 ppg and shooting minus 40%. Unless your SG is a 30 ppg scorer.
I'm just fed up and so down. We need talent! But we will end up with the 8th pick again and continue to take guys like Frye, Gallinari, Hill and Ntilikina! **** never changes!!!

Just to splash a little water on the "trade the vets for assets movement".
What assets, and what are they bringing back?
The Knicks aren't good. Not Good teams are generally a collection of not good players. That's the Knicks.
The players they have that have "value" aren't that valuable, fantasies we as fans tell ourselves otherwise.
About the only tradeable pieces on the entire team other than the guys we are obviously keeping are:
CLee, big ol KOQ, Beasley (maybe), McD (maybe), Kanter (unlikely)
CLee - at best fetches a low first round pick from some random playoff team that needs a veteran guard. Since most organizations aren't the Knicks, they value guard play and have a bunch. So, basically we have to hope a contender has injury depth concerns at guard. Can't think of anyone like that but basically Lee's max value is pick like 25-30 where fate hands a team an injury. Not likely.
KOQ - Knicks are at least good at stockpiling centers and I guess a team that could use some bench scoring a a couple of offensive fouls a game might surrender a low 1st/high 2nd here.
Beasley - playoff team that needs scoring punch would surrender a 2nd rounder
McD - see above just a lot less so
Kanter - really don't see anyone surrendering anything for a C with limitations about to opt in and get paid 18 million a year
Knicks better hit some home runs in the draft. Oh, and keep losing this year. Every ping pong ball helps.
Lee is def the main guy. He should be able to fetch at least a late first. Teams are always looking for 3D guys. No reason we shouldn't be able to move him.
I would alsp see if any teams are looking to move contracts for assets. Id be willing to take on a bad deal (that expires same time as Noah) if we can pick up some assets. Really depends on the contract and what we are getting back.
Yea, not sure what we can for everyone else. Beas has been really impressive and could help a lot of teams. Id take a 2nd or something along that lines. No real worries if we can't move anyone else though.
I also realize more teams are usually more interested closer to the trade deadline so maybe itll take a month or 2 but there has to be moves we can make to improve our situation even if just by a little.
Overall, would be nice to free up some time for Dot or pick up some g-league guys to give a shot. Move the tank into the next gear.
Deadline is a month away. Trade talks should be happening already.
They have to move a center. Most likely that's KOQ. The only other player with value is Lee. Beasley may get you a 2nd. Kanter is not likely traded because he has 18.5 due next year and gives 25 mpg. Doug? Not sure what you get for him.
You may be able to pair up Doug/Baker/Beasley with one of Lee/KOQ to try for more value. That's about all I see on the trade market.
Cutting Sessions for 10 day deals must happen soon. Burke is first in line.
At the very least...I think KOQ is gone in the next few weeks and, the Sessions/Burke move happens. Other than that...who knows?
Lee you could do the equivalent of what LAL got for LouWill. You take back a bad contract, get a 1st and give up the better player. It’s also what WAS did for Bojan.
Maybe it’s the same scenario with KOQ, but he makes such little money I don’t know what contract that would be. Maybe Singler?
Your best bet is probably pairing them both to a playoff team that could use a back up big and wing. OKC IMO was at the top of that list. Good luck getting Ferguson back from them now. There are other teams that could use that combo. Our completion will likely be the RoLo / Holiday combo and of gets really bad in Salt Lake City, Favors & Hood which is the best combo.
If you can get a 2nd for Beas Jack you do that and run. Not that they wouldn’t decent guys to bring off the bench if we ever turn it over to the youth movement. It’s just about asset acquisition for possible moves down the line.
With that said, this team hasn’t even hit the lag way mark of the season. If past history is any indicator of the future, we will not move any of those guys as we are still in the playoff mix and have one of our best players coming back shortly.

I agree. Too close to .500 and the playoffs. I can see the FO going for it. I don't know when Timmy is due back. How many more losses do we need for the FO to change course...again?

For this fo that has prioritized playoffs over all else?
We’d have to go winless till the deadline before they even make an exploratory phone cal gaiging the value of our guys in a trade.

I am quite surprised that most of you guys feel that Beasley can only be traded for a second round pick. I disagree. He's had a monumental sea change in his game and is extremely valuable. I see him being traded for a low First rounder. OR the Knicks simply choose to keep him.
Tanking again, I suppose. Is there any other way?

Re: Knicks-Heat PG Thread
It's hard to trade anybody who will be on the market next year. That's somebody who is going to a team going for it this year. Maybe Lee fits that bill but who needs him? O'Quinn won't net much return. Noah is immovable. Hermangomes might get you another potential pick. baker gets you nothing. Thinking about it. What do the Knicks have that is intriguing to anybody that will help the Knicks in return?
