Honestly I kind of wanna keep RJ.. assuming we draft him.. it's Knox Frank DSJr who can go in any trade.. just hope that would be enough

wanna keep RJ unless there's a chance to make a KD/max/AD big 3 without trading mitch.

i'd give them RJ, anyone else to match salaries, and all the picks they want.

how is he a good fit though? they all need the ball and RJ isn’t the best shooter.

I can’t believe people are so down on us picking third.
RJ Barrett would arguably be our best player right now with respect to Mitch. If we woulda won the whole thing they woulda started questioning Zion’s position and fit and everything else. If Ja drops to us, watch all the question marks about him come up. So much negativity.
It’s suffocating.

He’s not perfect. None of these guys are but Barrett is gonna be a great Knick. He’s too driven and talented to not be a star. And the bright lights won’t shake him.

Sigh and we’ll probably trade him for AD.

A.Davis **** had Jrue Holiday, Cousins and bunch of veterans/wing players. And he couldnt do any ****.
Tradeing for AD only would make sense if Knicks get Kyrie or Durant.

RJ most likely going to be an allstar. But is he going to be like Derozan? Thats is the question for him.
10 years ago I'd not mind drafting him at all.
Nowadays there are a lot of athletic freaks around the league.

Anyone under 6'7" needs to be an elite shooter with great range and also great handles to be a legit star.
If RJ develop his 3pt shot, improve handles add a floater maybe then he can become that kind of star player. But right now he look like he can turn to Derozan kind of player. Which is still an allstar player but he doesnt have that edge against toughest opponents.
You either that height+wingspan with athleticism like Kahwi to shoot that ball over Embiid or be like Harden with crafty handle and deadly step back 3s. For 2nd wheel in a winning team I guess you need to be like Beal/Mccollum type of player which still requires great shooting and good handles to operate at midrange.

I cant see RJ becoming a franchise player. But he can be 2nd best player in winning team if he develops his game well.
I think rj and perhaps more importantly his family will comprehend the importance of shooting in todays nba. I mean he is the godson of strve nash for gods sake.

that doesn’t mean anything. how long has nash been his godfather? shouldn’t he be a better shooter then already?

having nash to lean on is nice but people act like he can transfer his shooting stroke to rj

Tacko may not be winning a spelling bee, but on the court he should have a better career than Thabeet. He already has better density (Thabeet was too lanky/uncoordinated) and has much better instincts. Fall could have a surprising positive career in particular as a teams response to the Aytons and Embiids.

Same! This is the most comfortable I've been with a Knick draft maybe ever. I desperately wanted to be in the top 3 and to beat the odds of falling out and we did that.

I would only trade for Davis if they are OK with just Knox, Smith, Dotson, Lance, Hezonja and 3 picks... Barrett, Mitch, Trier and Frank should be untouchable

Kyrie / Allen
Green / Trier
Barrett / Frank
Durant / Melo
Davis / Mitch

I would hope he'd been his godfather since birth. RJ may have acquired his playmaking eye from Nash, but I do agree about his shooting. Sometimes you cant have it all I guess, but from what I've seen his mechanics are good. Reps in the gym should improve him on that end.

Love your lineups man. You're one of the few posters that seemingly is still pro-Frank (like myself.)

I think Frank will show everyone something next season, especially if we build a competitive team here. his value will show greatly as long as he doesn't get injured and continues his progression this offseason. I still have very high hopes for him.

What about trading the #3 to Atlanta for #8, #10, and #35 (or #40)?

I applaud your Frank enthusiasm but the reality is, he will be out of the NBA in another year or two. The kid is a bust.

Its full out win now for Knicks the moment a 30 year old KD signs the dotted line.

Barrett while certainly a nice potential player these guys can take a few years before the reach their potential in the NBA and his high end is still probably need AD level.

The only report you heard about Knicks saying anything about keeping the pick was Zion. A generational type player changes the dynamic and their learning curves are usually much shorter because the talent is freakish.

Barrett will very likely go for either AD or another guy like Beal.

If keeping Frank is the reason AD doesnt become a knick, I truly think this fan base would riot. Frank is a complete disaster and just about everyone knows it

I guess I'd take Barrett right now but I would prefer to trade the pick but only if it's a fair trade. Which means no Mitch, bitch! I'll give New Orleans the 3rd pick, Knox, Smith Jr., Ntilikina and one of the Dallas picks, not both. That's it. Take it or leave it.
