Never thought I'd say this, but Knox is showing more promise than RJ

After googling, I just realized Anthony Bennett is another Canadian. SMH.

Yes, even if he is just a catch and shoot guy coming off the bench that is the skill that keeps you relevant. The NBA now is shoot or kick rocks. Knox has a pretty rainbow three. It has value in the league if he can keep making improvements to the rest of his game.

I appreciate RJ's effort, that he is playing defense and hits the boards, but he is not elite at anything and if you're going to be a glue guy you cannot be one of the highest usage players on the team. When you handle the ball as much as he does you have to be able to make shots. If he was primarily an off-the-ball player who took fewer shots maybe there'd be some way to figure this out.

The offense going through RJ, Payton and Randle doesn't work. Randle passing from the point of attack was working earlier because he can make shots.

At this point, I'd bring RJ off the bench and hope Burks gets back soon. Frank too. He was playing well enough and making his limited shots.

The problem also is when you're young and struggling, playing the most minutes in the league is not going to help. Burning him out is not the way to get RJ on track.

I think he’ll get it together but this is hard to stomach lol. Thibs believes in him, or at least I wanna hope that’s what it is and not just cause we got no warm bodies lol

If you're coaching the team, how much longer can you go with him shooting like this without losing your credibility with the rest of the team? Maybe you give him until Burks comes back, if that. Teams are just going to continue to give him the outside shot until he starts hitting it.

Jordan never ever struggled like this.

You missed my point...
No, I didn't. I understand this board and fanbase is hyperbolic and impatient and has never ever had the patience to let players/coaches/teams develop. But fighting hyperbolic fans with hyperbole won't help them.

The fans need serious intervention.

There are 18 in the NBA. How about Gilgeous-Alexander, Dort, Thompson, Boucher, Murray, Dhillon as netter examples?

What makes RJ a guard? The fact that he is 6'6? Does that make Charles Barkley a guard too?

As patient as with Frank?

Half the board turned on him his rookie season.

Then again, Knicks stayed "patient" for going into his 4th year and he's a bust.

RJ will follow in his footsteps. Obviously not quite as busty, but still ample.

His position on the floor makes him a guard. They line him up at guard and he plays on the perimeter. He needs the ball to generate any team offence. He runs the lanes, tries to act as a perimeter scorer off the drive screen cut and catch and shoot.

He is not big enough to play the 4 and can't play the stretch 4.

In the old days he'd be called a swingman. You want to argue he's a 3 fine but they are the same position these days. They don't stick 3s in the corner any more to attack the baseline.

thibs sat through a season of jimmy butler shooting sub 40% from the floor and below 30% from 3. Although jimmy didn’t go through these 3point droughts RJ be going through lol. When Burks gets back I’d cut his minutes but still run him out there and tell him keep shooting lol

At least. RJ has shown more pieces than Frank and more aggression, but he's got a lot more to get up to speed than Frank did. He can do more so much more needs to be refined. And he lost a quarter season and summer league play.

RJ's problem isn't numbers. It's efficiency. Frank's problem was ability, aggression and numbers.

Obviously to all of the above.

Still, nonetheless, RJ will be a bust. Not like Frank, just a different kind.

i think frank is less likely to be a bust and i'm not a big fan. if the 3 stays going in this year, he can be a 3 & d guard. that's a role that teams always want. rj might have more pieces but they're harder to assimilate. he has to reach a much higher ceiling to be useful than frank does.

At least his ws/48 isn't negative this year.

So far.
