Randle effed the spacing up though wanting the ball 1v1 and gravitating too close to the ball. But yeah he shouldn't have even attempted the p&r with Taj. Should have just dished it to Randle with ~5 seconds to try and cook something up 1v1 on AD

Thibs needs to be more creative offensively. Our crunch time offense needs to be more than "Julius, make a play"

in hindsight i agree. but if randle missed we'd all be talking about why did we iso randle when it never works and why didn't we try to run a play etc etc. edit: see post above mine

i'm over the L and won't nitpick it to death at this point. lots of possessions resulted in that L.

but with the lead, you think maybe letting a warmed-up frank help on the perimeter makes sense. wonder what kind of look THT gets with smoke out there. it was a good screen and an even better shot. not taking anything away from the guts in the moment. but you need a stop at the end of regulation and OT. you also have a guy who, like always, is hitting his threes with PT.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I think the plan was for Randle to get the ball that’s why he was too close for it calling for it. honestly I don’t even know what rj was thinking there. it is what it is though

i think what bothers me most about the game is that randle did everything to win and put the game on his back and should have got the last shot. rj never even really looked over at him for the pass.

teams are all over that. thibs talks about how we win or we learn. this is a learning experience. it has been for a few weeks now.

no one is going to let julius body them 1-on-1 in a big moment. and the ball movement needs to happen.

thibs loves inside out ball so much. one of the things that works is swinging around the horn after a double team. i mean, at least try it.

as far as i'm concerned we lost because we didn't play nerlens at the end of the game and in OT. that's when wes matthews made the put back and we lost in OT. I know he was having a tough game but law of averages says he would have come up with some clutch block or steal in OT like he always did during the 9 game win streak. but noooo thibs wants to close the game with taj gibson, like he did in most of the losses before the win streak happened. bad adjustment thibs! I don't like losing! change it back!

All Thibs does is ISO and if the player doesn't hit the tough contested shots then the Knicks lose, if they hit them the Knicks win....that's the sum of his offense in crunch time. Every time, that is a recipe of losing close games if you don't have the best tough shot makers in the league and the Knicks don't have them. Randle has made a few and missed a few, he's average as a go to guy.

Thibs offensive scheming struggles have been the same all season and in the playoffs it will be exposed because he doesn't have the elite shooters to cover for his lacking. How hard is that to understand? Oh, you didn't, you ramble off a bunch of nonsense that's in your head not what I said so why did you even quote me if you talk to yourself? I will be gateful if you go away, ok?

That’s a pretty rough assessment for game 6 of a 6 game Western swing 68 games in with your two best bench shooters injured. Not to mention our best rebounder and only (starting) lob finisher still out.

The thibs offense isn’t genius, but it does rely on the iso player to penetrate and kick. RJ being ice cold and Bullock being MIA tonight made it come down to ISO Rose & Randle.

One thing Julius could work on is finishing as the roll man. He pretty much exclusively looks to pop or reset for an iso post.

Full arsenal of shooters (or god forbid leaving in Frank when he’s hot), and the offense is fine. Not great, but not terrible either.

Thibs is not very creative offensively, all season long during the 4th qrts he relies on his players to make tough shots. This isn't something I'm saying for the first time, it's something Ive said even after games when the players make the shots.

So much of the Knicks offense late in games is created off a standstill and really the only action is a screen for the ball handler. Sure, Randle and Rose can make some tough shots but to rely on that is only going to get the Knicks so far.

In this game it didn't help them that the few shooters the Knicks had available weren't that hot, the Knicks missed having other options like IQ and Burks. It's one of the areas the Knicks need a talent upgrade in but if the talent is lesser and the coaching won't make up for that then this is what can happen....and did.

Awesome bro. You have it all figured out for us. Hopefully the Knicks fire Thibs and hire the poster known as Stuporman. If they had only hired you last summer we would have the 4th seed clinched and a more brilliant offense to watch. Grrrrrrrr. Will the Knicks ever get it right??

I don't think he even should have been in the game, when you're 2-12 and you sit pretty much the entire 4th you're too cold to come in and win the game

lakers defense was excellent in crunch time. there wasn't an easy pass to make anywhere. that clip that showed the poor spacing out of that inbounds pretty much sums up how the team didn't help itself.

i agree that randle taking an even longer shot (40 feet) is better than the look RJ got at 35 with guys draped all over him. you just really want to have defended THT better after such a big shot. and you damn sure wanted to put a body on wes matthews in regulation. agonizing.

we move on.

yeah you have to give it to Randle at that point. idk what rj was thinking there. horrible decision for a 3 and drive player who was missing everything last night

even the pnr with rose and taj was not what i would have wanted. it was randle's game to win or lose. get him the ball.
