Re: [Camelo Thread Part 9] - OJ to DEN, Melo to NY? Pg 7
This just sounds like double talk to me.
Donnie Walsh and his staff have been working to put together a lucrative package to offer the Nuggets and have talked with various other teams to assist in the deal. ESPN.com reported Thursday night that the Knicks have checked in with the Grizzlies about possibly including former lottery pick O.J. Mayo in a package to offer to Denver.
An NBA source familiar with the Grizzlies' plans said that despite what they have said publicly, Mayo is "way, way, way available'' for a trade. They are down on Mayo, who recently got into a fight with teammate Tony Allen on the team plane.
The Knicks have yet to make any formal offers for Anthony, nor have they engaged in serious negotiations with the Nuggets. The plan is to put together a formidable package - the Knicks also can offer Denver immediate cash relief with Kelenna Azubuike's expiring contract, which will be insurance-paid after Game 41 - to compete with the Nets' offer, which remains on the table.

My senses are telling me we have come full circle with these rumors and jive talk. That its time for action. Knowing what I know about my knicks, when you hear a rumor its one of 2 things. Its old and dead. Or something is going down as we speak.
I have a hunch Denver has engaged us in trade talk.

Never underestimate the strength of knowledge.

Re: [Camelo Thread Part 9] - OJ to DEN, Melo to NY? Pg 7
Espn says Donnie is looking at Memphis since Denver isn't interested in our players. We were also talking to Minnesota again, and we know that Denver covets Batum still. They also said that in addition to Memphis, Walsh might be looking to bring in a 4th team to facilitate a deal. We have to give Randolph+filler(Rautins) to Minny for Telfair+Memphis' 1st rd pick....
New York: Chandler+Fields+Douglas+11' 1st rd pick from Memphis via Minny+Curry+Azubuike
New York: Melo+Birdman
Denver: Melo+Birdman
Denver: Mayo+Batum+11' 1st rd pick from Memphis+Curry+Azubuike+Cunningham
Memphis: Mayo
Memphis: Fields+Douglas
Portland: Batum+Cunningham
Portland: Chandler
Maybe our 2nd rd pick to either Denver or Memphis, and maybe some cash considerations too. That's a hell of a fair deal IMO for all teams. Portland has enough $ to extend Chandler, and they need scoring as well as defense from the sf position and Batum is still pretty raw offensively.
We'd be left with...
Felton/Telfair
Walker/Mason
Melo/Williams
Stoudemire/Gallinari
Birdman/Turiaf/Moz

great rationale and deduction
I can honestly see why portland pulls the trigger on this deal imo. Batum is still too far away and LMA needs a guy next to him who can shoot. Chandler can shoot.

Heres my obligatory trade idea:
NYK Trade: Curry, Azu, Douglas, Walker, Mozgov, Mason, 2014 1st rounder, $3 million
NYK Receive: Melo, Harrington, Thabeet
DEN Trade: Melo, Harrington
DEN Receive: Curry, Azu, Mayo, Randolph, Walker, 2014 1st rounder (NY), 2011 2nd rounder (MEM)
MEM Trade: Mayo, Thabeet, 2nd rounder
MEM Receive: Douglas, Mozgov, Mason, $3 million
...we get Melo and KEEP Gallo/Chandler/Fields! enough for why we would
...Denver gets Mayo and can trade Randolph for an additional 1st rounder. They also save millions of dollars from Curry and Azu's contracts.
...Memphis saves money on Mayo/Thabeets deals to be able to keep Gasol and get a potential solid backup for Gasol along with a better 3rd guard off the bench.

FOr those (aggo) that think Denver would want Gallo over Chandler because of any monetary savings just go back and compare their contracts.
Chandler is an RFA next year and Gallo is an RFA the year after and Gallo's QO is approx. 2 million more than chandler's.
Now if Gallo wasn't due a new contract for 3 or 4 years sure I can understand. But the difference in when a new contract is going to be given to said players is one stinking year. Gallo's cap hols would be higher in 2012, his salary next year is more expensive than Chandler's QO, and his QO is approx. 5 mil. in 2012. So their savings would come in 2012 maybe. Nobody knows for certain what kind of contract Chandler is going to get next year.
