Down 3-4 starters. No center over 6'9". They trot out the "questionable to play" 7ft goofball Sengun and let him walk all up and down the court....Fighting the refs, ignoring calls all night, and still tied it through sheer determination. ..

So what blame are you talking about?

It’s hard to join a team mid/late season and gel with the team immediately. Granted Burks was bad last night, but they will play better with some more reps. We are just going to have to be patient.

Bogs is fine.

Burks is wired to play like an assh*le. F*ck that guy.

Sure, he'll score 20 points and heroically win a game, probably any moment now.
Doesn't make up for how he ruins stuff the other 9 games before that scoring outburst.

I thought the FO wised up about getting in the right kind of players. The Burks move makes me question that.

I guess it's the same faction that thought Fournier and Kemba were just what the team needed.

Again, Bogs is good. Moves the ball, team player DNA.
Burks is one of those usage guys who look good on bad teams but look bad on better teams.

Knicks suck against Orlando with a healthy squad. This is a 20 point loss, easy.

Orlando has had our number healthy…. I think that is a lot to ask.

it is but we can't afford to fall too behind if we want to stay in the top 4. i think getting 2nd is out of the question with how the cavs are playing but it sure would be nice to get 3rd.

I'm surprised at your optimism. The moment Randle went down and OG joined him, this team was heading for the 6th seed. Actually, I think they wind up with the 7th seed. Or 8th.

Since I don't believe for one second that Randle and OG are back before 5 weeks.

This was a fun game. Despite the ref B.S.

I also was annoyed on the amount of travels Sengun got away with. And I saw three or four times where he lowered his shoulder. Such a bulldozer.

I know Alec is here for his ISO plays, but he needs to do better on ball movement. I'm getting flash backs on why I was on the fence with him here.

Burks can be ok in a role, but Thibs has him out there playing pg again and he’s chucking way too much. A normal coach would also find min for both Deuce and Burks at this moment….we def need them both to play with so many injuries. The entire rotation was just insane.

he was brought here to basically play iq's role. there were similar complaints about iq not passing and chucking when he was missing. i don't know if it will work out or not but he wasn't brought here to stand in the corner. they needed someone off the bench who could create shots. that was the whole point.

That's the problem. Burks isn't suited anymore to play the IQ role and run the offense. Like you said, he's an iso scorer, spot up shooter. We are asking him to do too much already. End of shot clock ISO when the offense stalls or spot up shooting is fine. Trying to have him run the offense and taking shots early and often is when it goes bad.

Dial Burks back a little bit, stagger the starters better (who are left as healthy) and get more players involved. Get back to moving the ball.

Couple thoughts on last night game after sleeping it off.

Glad the refs apologized for the last call but they should be able to overturn the bad call in the moment. If you can review when the body contact happened, you should be able to say no body contact happened either. It also doesn’t excuse of terrible the game was officiated the whole night either. Ive been going back and forth about disputing the game but this team needs rest more than the win imo.

DiVencenzo is the first guy to me that Thibs hurt this year cuz of rotation stuff. Basically playing him the whole game when you’ve got Burks and McBride on the bench is just dumb anyway you slice it. That’s a different expectation than asking your back up center to play starters minutes cuz of an injury.

We’ve been really lucky with a lot of the trades we’ve made recently cuz the new guy just hits the ground running. Rose, hart, and OG immediately figured it out but that’s not always the case and there’s a learning curve. I know cuz Burks was here before there was an assumption that the transition would be seamless like those other trades but the entire roster is different from when he was last here. He played here a lot with RJ, Evan, and quick and they’re all gone. Anyone that’s left from the “we here” season is injured. Not going to give up on him after 2 games.

Lastly, split up sims and precious. I’d start sims and have precious come off the bench but you aren’t going to keep getting away with 3 non shooters on the court against any smart coaches. It’s part of the reason we got destroyed in the 1st quarter last night cuz Brunson had no room to operate.

How long Taj's 10 day contract? The guy is being blocked by the rim itself, he has no more lift.

I admire the casino industry. It's like capitalism distilled. Extracts wealth from those with less and concentrates into an organization that is already wealthy. Pretends skill is involved, but it's 99% pure chance, outside of poker and a few scattered outlier games, and the whole thing is rigged in favor of the large business. Finally, it markets the sh*t out of itself as entertainment. As an added bonus, it takes advantage of a segment of the population that has a mental condition, but lets other parts of society deal with the fallout while they collect the profits. And of course, as late stage capitalism morphs into corporate fascism, they "lobby" the government to keep the gravy train going, as you pointed out.

Might as well get in bed with sports, our version of the Roman Coliseums.

Last night was a pivotal moment for me.

I may not be employed as a profiler for the FBI, but I know a liar when I see one. The second Malloy ruled on the play last night I knew it was already a done deal. He spent a way too short time analyzing the replay and then his expression was of a man in a hurry to GTFO out of there.

Then they turn around and say they got it wrong as soon as it is too late to reverse the call?

No, this was pure manipulation. It is rare to see rigged officiating this obvious.

The upside is I will read more, because I don't have time to be jerked around by this BS.

I've spent the best parts of my life being a slave to this thing called the NBA.

Fck the people who run this con game

This is a good opportunity to invest my time in something besides a corrupt spectacle.

I expect I'll watch some games for sure, playoffs in particular, because habits like this die hard, but the days of watching every game are over. Thanks NBA, you suck.

See you guys around

See you next game thread. :D

i think it's better that we act in kindness and carry the burden of their mistake. it shows forgiveness and allows others to be human. holding grudges and unrealistic standards makes for unhealthy relationships.

So far Burks is avg 28 shots per 100 possessions with a 31.3% usage

On Det he avg 20-21 shots per 100 possessions with a 23% usage.

The worst part is Burks is getting rewarded with more minutes. Thibs needs an intervention.

For comparison:
Brunson avgs 28.2 shots per 100
Randle avgs 25.5 shots per 100

Pure madness!
