Thoughts on Mitch and Huk

If Brown is determined to play 2 bigs, he could have both Mitch and KAT out to start the game and then rotate KAT and Mitch so it's one big at a time (if you consider Yabu and OG to more wings than true 4s) but there's also a world where Huk becomes that backup to Mitch.

That would make Yabu KAT's backup, and if it's Hart backing up the 3, someone is out at the 1/2 backup spots between Deuce, Clarkson and Brogdon.

Good problems to have.

Thinking out loud, Huk is probably the Precious big this year, spot minutes for foul trouble for Mitch,KAT, more time when Mitch or KAT miss games, and most bigs miss 10 games a year, so that's 20 games at least for Huk to get more minutes.

That scenario is more likely to get Brodgon, Deuce, Clarkson and Hart into the rotation.

Again, good problem to have. If Knicks get both Brogdon and Shamet on the team, Knicks will have 12 legitimately playable players.

Ironically I think Thibs lost us
games by employing that strategy to win us more games. We would hang against the elite teams for a while and then the starters would gas out.

I think there are teams that could, problem is neither player is looking too desirable at the moment.

I'd rather take the time to evaluate the vet additions for a few months to see which ones make sense including the guaranteed guys like Clarkson and Yabusele before moving the young guys. Unfortunately there is only room for one more vet between Brogdon, Shamet or someone else. Maybe one of them could be brought in later like Shamet was last year if they decide to one or more of the vets or young guys.

I don't see the point of investing time into Precious and Payne types once again just to bench them in the postseason and watch them walk for nothing in the off-season. If you can't contend with the vets in your top 10 attempting to upgrade your bottom 4-5 probably isn't going to help. I'd rather make sure I get the top 9-10 guys right before moving some of the teams' limited "assets" just to hopefully improve the 11-14 spots.

Yeah man, I think we'll have to draft some of our guys unless other teams draft them first.

As of now, we can only sign one veteran among Brogdon, Shamet, and Matthews. Whichever of the two we can't sign, we may just draft in the g-league if we are allowed to do that again.

In Thibs mind thats what he was doing. What he didn't account for is the guys he rode so hard their play often eventually suffered because of it.

Brown is not going to do that. 1. Because he doesn't ride players as hard as Thibs and has more liberal rotations 2. When the FO was interviewing coaches they identified to them high level objectives to correct from the previous year on a coaching level and that was very very likely top 2 on the list.
