Business.

Gotta be one of my favorite moments in recent NBA history.

Lebron being Lebron. Hamming it up for the camera. Desperately attempting to be cool, even though he generally seems to be rather corny from a far. Shucking and jiving with his butt buddies.

Then D-Rose. "Southside 'til he die" look all over his face. In the first picture, he ain't even looking at Lebron, he's looking at his soul, and he's disgusted by what he sees. Dudes with Lebron's character and general sense of superiority probably couldn't last 24 seconds in the world that D-Rose comes from. Lebron is TOTALLY opposite of the code that Rose was molded from.

It was such a great capsule of the time too. Lebron desperately seeking acceptance. Rose desperately seeking the acclaim that he probably felt was undeservedly bestowed upon Lebron.

It's Omar and Stringer Bell. Only Omar didn't win.
What do I care...it's rigged anyway

25

Apparently it represents Chicago, however I still have not understood why.

Brock, Simeon Career Academy's athletic director, described the former Wolverines and Bulls star's decision to don No. 25 — in honor of late Simeon legend Ben Wilson — "as extremely special."

"We always like to keep the torch lit in honor of Ben Wilson," Brock said.

Wilson was the top high school player in the country when he was fatally shot on Nov. 20, 1984, but his legacy lives on with former Simeon superstar players wearing his No. 25. Simeon product Nick Anderson wore No. 25 in the NBA, while Kendall Pollard, Kendrick Nunn and other former Wolverines have suited up with that uniform number in college.

Oooooh ok

I had no idea who that was until now. That was exactly 364 days before I was born. (Nov 21st 1985)

But his cap hold will likely be very high, no?

And wouldn't westbrook and Durant want to join?

Everything comes down to melo looking like melo and KP taking a very big step. Or else it may be difficult to attract free agents.

8mill annual salary. Maybe a two year deal.

8 mil? You guys are still operating under the old CBA. Noah is not taking 8 mil in a world where Robin Lopez is getting 13. It's going to cost at least 15 per to get Noah. Hopefully we can get him on a two year deal with an opt out after one.

I was wondering about this. Does anyone have a definitive answer? I'd assume the cap hold gets in the way. It would be the same thing with signing a guy to a 1 year deal, or 1 plus option, whatever invokes the bird rights. Well, dumb question. Can you get bird rights on a 1 year deal from a FA? And I guess a player option has to renounce before the FA period, so a guy like Aflolo is just another FA - that makes sense.

The Bulls, with largely the same personnel as they had in the 2014-15 season, took 1700 3's. They supposedly hired the free wheeling, run it up and down guy in Fred Hoiberg. The 1700 3's is down from their 1800 attempts the year prior.

In the 2014-15 season, the Bulls were FIFTH in Free Throw rate...

In the 2015-16 season, the Bulls were TWENTY EIGHTH...

Derrick Rose played in 66 games this past season. In his first 4 seasons in the league, Derrick Rose averaged 5 FTA's/night.

Derrick Rose averaged 2.7 Free Throw attempts per game this past season. He averaged 6.9 FTA in the 2011 season when he won the MVP...

how sway?

Hoiberg is to Jimmy and Pau what Blatt was to LeBron. Scared to rock the boat and actually be in charge. Personally I think Hoiberg is out of his depth in the NBA and that'll show in the next year and a half, if he makes it that far.

Also Rose lost some of his vertical and with it some effectiveness at the rim.

Rose hasn't lost his vert and he's as quick as he ever was. He purposely doesn't jump like that anymore for precautionary reasons seemingly.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZK2_-rIzJE

Screw the points. Look at the movement. Consistently motoring past Jordan Clarkson like he's standing still. The move at the 1 minute mark is explosion that I only see in one other guard in the league.

By all accounts, he's still taking it to the rack at the same rate he always has been. Soooo...where the FTA's go fam?

I watched a video of that dork "Coach Nick" explaining his FTA and his take was that he isn't seeking out the contact. I think he was getting jobbed, but wtf do I know.

I'm not sure how much he has left. The bulls even decided his quality of play fell off before he was injured. I believed he lost his starting job.

I wouldn't be interested in a serious financial commitment.

Derrick is clutch. Even after the injuries he still manages to come up with these big time shots in big time games.

I really can't believe it. Oh and we didn't add salary.
And ESPN still grades this D- for the NYK

On another side, the Magic sent Oladipo, Ilyasova and a 1st round pick, only to get Serge Ibaka

ESPN grade a D- because it's probably not a great idea to trade a starting center who is going to be on a bargain deal for the next three years for a guy that's going to be a free agent next year and can't stay on the court.

Let's run through the scenarios… Rose stinks up the joint and we let him walk next year, sure we get cap space but we gave up a solid starting center on a good deal for that? Not wise. If Rose comes in and plays his ass off, then he's due for a huge contract next summer. Are we really going to give Max money or close to Max money over the span of most likely three or four years to a guy who has one year under his belt of solid basketball after three years of pure disappointment?

I am a diehard Knicks fan so I'm obviously going to support rose for as long as he's wearing the jersey, but it's really not that shocking to see people lay in to Phil for making this trade.

Well the Blazers lost RoLo in the first place and seemed to be doing fine without him.

I liked Rolo, his attitude and everything, but we can easily replace him this offseason.

Noah at the right price looks intriguing, two years ago dude was all NBA first team. But I don't want us to pay the max.
Lots of decent centers available in the market place... other than Noah, Whiteside, Howard of course, but also there's Biyombo, Ezeli, Pachulia, Mahinmi, Speights, Mozgov, Nene, Plume, Hibbert... etc
However, very few PGs available this year, Conley was the only top piece, he'll likely remain in Memphis, and if you're going to take a chance on the likes of Rondo or D-Will, I prefer to grab D-Rose any day of the week.

We can also play KP at C some minutes, he has the size and IQ to do so.
A lineup of D-Rose, Gallo, Lance, Melo & KP looks promising to me. Let alone with KD at SF, but that's off topic currently. At least, the trade puts us in a position to get a meeting. Melo on his own wouldn't.

Im still in disbelief that we got rid of Jose ******* Calderon. This trade is a win just based off the fact he wont step on the court anymore. Class act though.

Rose is seriously talented and you cant stp him in a pick and roll. Pick and Roll with KP? WTF you wanna do? Pick your poison. Easy layup for Rose because no layup is hard for him or a kick out to KP for an open J which is like a free throw for him.

Look what average point guards can do in Horny's offense. Man I cant imagine what Rose will do.
