Highlights can make Bargnani look like a beast. The things I'm looking at are Rose's explosiveness, his first step and the different ways he can attack and finish at the rim. He honestly looks like a blur on the court and his passes have been lightening quick as well. Also the fact that he shot over 47% from the field to finish out the season gives me hope that his offense will improve after a full and healthy offseason.
Haven't looked too much on how Rose is on defense, but considering we had to deal with Calderon last year it can't possibly be a downgrade.
He's actually been an average finisher in the paint his entire career (same goes for average - he's either basically at average TS% or below). Last year he was at 51%, which is bad. He shot 47% over 21 games (sample size)...and still had a below average TS%. That's also bad.
His defense was bad last year as well.
The night of the trade I watched 4 games from throughout the year - he had the same issues he's had his entire career. His biggest issue, IMO, has been his poor shot selection.
Honestly, all we need Rose to do is be average and we will be a lot better than we were last year. We had the worst guard rotation in the league last year, all Rose needs to do is stay healthy and not completely fall off the map and we'll make the playoffs
He'll be good. Like I said if you look at just his regular averages they look fine, not sure why the advanced metrics aren't kind to him. 16-5 on 44% is solid af considering he couldn't see properly until December.
