Re: STAT and Tyson working with Olajuwon this summer
I'll be happy if Stat learns only two moves. He pretty much has no back-to-basket game. But let's be real, Josh Smith learned very little from Hakeem. LeBron learned like 2 moves. Dwight benefited the best but he still doesn't have counters for his moves, but he at least commands a double team.

Pretty much.
Post play really isn't all that complicated and something these dudes should've learned in high school. The day we're able to toss the ball in the post and say "big guy, get us some points" I will be a happy camper. Would be surprised if much comes from this, though.

One of the best big men to ever play the game and ever will. Also a source of great pride because he's a charitable practicing Muslim (means a lot to me).
Tyson and Amar'e can only improve under his tutelage.

Wow.
EDIT: Yes, I'd still laugh if you had said catholic, jewish, buddhist, hindu or whatever. Being religious doesn't make a person any better or worse than anyone else.

Man, thinking about this era, with the Olajuwons, the Ewings, the Robinsons, the NBA has gotten sooo weak at the center position. Any one of these guys were leaps and bounds better than Howard, who's considered the best center in the league right now.

I'm trying to find the exact number online but I think Olajuwon charges about 50 grand to train with him over the summer.
Here's a Suns.com article on Robin Lopez and Marcin Gortat training with Olajuwon...

Stoudemire might be better off working on post moves with Karl or Moses Malone...but something is better than nothing.

I don't think they have real no-nonsense camps like Olajuwon though.

Trained with him 2 years ago IIRC. Hakeem actually helped A LOT.
Dwight's been working with him for more than just one summer and his moves still look mechanical. I don't expect 5 years older Amare and Tyson to suddenly have a revelation. It can't hurt though.

The willingness is a positive sign, can't truly expect much, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

You can't teach someone to be less mechanical. His post moves improved a lot more after working with Hakeem.

Is Stat still setting up a player only summer camp?

This is going to be great for Chandler... I actually think he's got more potential than Stat with his back to the basket.

Re: STAT and Tyson working with Olajuwon this summer
Lovely news. Hakeem was the best center of his time (sorry Patrick) and besides being quick he was so hard to guard because of his brilliant footwork. He could fake out people from his pivot foot before he even put the ball on the floor, something that would be tremendously valuable to Stat.
Hope this is for real and not just an appetizer, but a full meal.

Re: STAT and Tyson working with Olajuwon this summer
If I remember correctly I remember Olajuwon saying that Dwight had some good moves and that they worked on some stuff that he picked up but that the Magic needed to give him more freedom on offense and Dwight needed more confidence to do them in the game (something that any person whose played competitive ball knows is easier said than done).
I think this can only be good news for Amare and Tyson. As some have already said, a simple jump hook from these guys and I'll be happy. With the Dream, one of the keys to his greatness in the post wasn't just his skills but his footwork. Amare, in my opinon, already has good foot work to do what he does as a face up player (or at least what he did in 2011) so if Hakeem can teach him how to put it to good use there's a chance we'll see some improvement next year from Stat.
