When you're as dysfunctional as a franchise as the Knicks are and you accidentally find a diamond in the rough on the waiver wire and he saves the reputation of your whole roster then you treat that good fortune with respect because the chances that you'll get that kind of a break again are slim to none. You make him the #1 priority... guys you were already paying sacks of cash were coming up short. You do whatever you have to do to make sure you take advantage of that good luck. It's just common sense.

But instead you let the organization who didn't want to let him go... regretted letting him go.. completely erase their mistake when they were in a desperate, dire situation. It's unbelievable.

I have to agree with Clyde. This is a curse move. Watch what happens this year. It just doesn't feel like it will be good.

Lin was the most popular player on this team, and Dotard let him walk. No excuses, you don't make business personal like that. You don't let an asset walk. Our top 3 scorer on the team is gone. The best PG is gone. Look at how much Jersey is spending. Look at how much Asik (spelling - that Chicago cat). Saddest day in Knicks history is today.

The energy for the curse to begin has been set. The butterfly affect has begun. Not to be confused with the Buffet affect (Felton)...

Sorry but this thread makes no sense. We've always been one of those franchises with bad luck even dating back to our glory years in the 70s. Tell me another franchise that has their best player (Willis Reed) getting hurt in the Finals. Yeah, we won but come on. The basketball gods have never liked us.

Yes, its a defining moment. Only the dimwits think this only equals an exodus of Lin fans. A team getting this far into a rebuild settling on Felton as starting PG and letting Lin walk is the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back for many people who don't like being taken for granted.

Yea, I feel Clyde but I agree more with the other poster that the Knicks have been cursed far longer. Knicks have done so many boneheaded moves...

What the Lin move signifies is Dolan's penchant for Listening to the wrong people. Melo era is just a bunch of brats.

This is not only an angry post. I'm quite serious. This puts a hex on the franchise. Dolan is a curse and this is his legacy statement. It will never be forgotten.

I understand but I'm not that disappointed. I've been against the direction of the team for the past 18 months and evern since Donnie Walsh was forced out I knew Dolan was slowly derailing the team. I've known for a long time Dolan was the worst owner in the NBA but 18 months ago I finally came to terms with the fact the Knicks would probably not win a championship on Dolan's watch.

For me it's just another blunder. I wanted us to match Lin's offer sheet but the problem goes way beyond Lin. I could understand no matching Lin if the team still had flexibility to acquire a better player down the line via free agency or trade or nba draft. It's just history repeating itself : no draft picks, youth for veterans, expiring contracts for longer contracts, capped out, no flexibility and no plan. The Knicks never learn from their past mistakes. It's insane to have such a high payroll and so little flexibility for a team that only won one playoff game the past two seasons and little room for improvement with only veterans. At best only Melo can become a better player and MVP candidate, Amare, Tyson, Kidd, Camby and the rest can only decline. For me the strategy was flawed from the start and I knew the team would run out of gas (ammos to reach the next level).

As always I will root for the team to win but I don't expect much. It's been like that for a long time (with the exception of the 2008-2011 era where I had hope we would finally build the team the right way with competence and patience (instead of trying to make the playoffs at all costs).

This is the same guy who said his decision between the Knicks and Clippers would solely come down down to money. And let's not pretend he actually took less money to stay with the Knicks. He got the best offer he could after he was exposed as a me-first chucker down the stretch last year. If he had wanted to be here no matter what, he would've signed for the $2.8 immediately and not waited a few weeks to test the market. You just don't speak about your teammates, former or, worse, current like that in public. The fact that he's happy a talented teammate is off his team because he's jealous of his contract shows what kind of team player he is.
