that's for any coach though.

D'antoni isn't the exception to that.

Any team without a playmaker or pg is gonna fold up and look awful on offense.

Charles should have a coaching position on the Knicks. Dude had Kwame Brown putting up double-doubles when he started working with him.

Even though I'm tired of making excuses for failed Knicks teams, you have to make the point that this is exactly what was lacking last season: intelligent PG play. It went quite well with Lin since he can think, but unfortunately he can't penetrate without turning the ball over every second time or even dribble when trapped.

You need some player who can dribble and think. That is also why Marbury never made it to the Finals.

I applaud Oak...he didn't say anything crazy or pot shot the team like he has in the past...he gave a fair break down of what needs to happen and I give him props. I agree.

I'm not denouncing pg play or a playmaker, all I'm saying is that is crucial for any team.

But speaking only about D'antoni's offense, players who take the bulk of the shots absolutely has to be efficient, especially considering the lack of defense on the other end.

But while coaching this team no one has truly been the definition of efficiency, whereas in PHX the majority of his core was efficient, and even when those guys moved on to other teams quite a few remained such, at least close.

I know what you mean and you're right. But everybody (I do not mean to adress you now) needs to give Melo and Amare a break, they both thrive when set up by a good playmaker. I'm glad we have two, maybe three servicable options next season.

Oakley destroys the Knicks every year and is always on the money

Taking issue with this shows you are too sensitive

I'll always have a place in my heart for the likes of Charles Oakley. Grew up having great childhood memories of my Knicks of the early 90's. Starks, Oakley and Ewing were our trio. Oakley speaks from the heart, and during his NBA golden years? Was one of the most feared/respected BIG's around due to his overall toughness down low. As a long time Knicks fan, I'd always welcome Oakley back home with open arms in regards to a coaching staff position.
