Forget trades for players like Rondo. The Knicks shot themselves in the foot when they kept giving away draft picks. Picks are the only way deals are getting done now with the new CBA increasing the importance of cheap contracts. When the earliest first round pick you can offer a team is in 2018 then you can pretty much forget about unloading bad contracts, unless its for slightly less bad, but longer contracts. There is no competing with Miami and the Pacers in the east so they might as well just work with the players they have (or attempt to unload some contracts for picks) and go after 2015 free agents with the boatload of capspace they will have.

Shump, Felton, Amare, any 1st rounders possible

for

Rondo, Wallace, Lee

2 1st rounders could be included only if they offer us A.Bradley too, in that package... Shump will fill his role, so we take back someone who can defend the perimeter and opp PG, too!!

Amare, Shump, Felton, MWP, Udrih, 2 future picks for Rondo, Bradley, Wallace and Lee

Option2: Amare, Bargs, Felton, Shumpert, Udrih and 2 picks for Rondo, Wallace, Lee and Green

Honesty. For the right players I think thats the best thing for us to do. Get the next big thing and set a new standard for after James and force others to adapt to us.

i think a lot fans would probably prefer this. take the L and wait it out. "damn the torpedoes" has been a terrible motto for this team.

Lin/Asik would probably get the job done, but I don't think Houston would do it, for spacing reasons and the fact that Lin is better off the ball. We'll see though.

Harden would request a trade (like Asik now) :) if they get Rondo :D He wants the ball in his hand, so he can chuck and flopp all night long. He had Westbrook in OKC and wasnt happy at all being 3rd or 4th option. Brooks was not a fool for playing him with the second unit ;)

What a dumb rumor! Ainge would never ever not in a billion years trade Rondo here! We don't have a single asset or prospect or package to acquire a player this good!

Shumpert probably hurt his knee again fixing his hair or making another bad song. Mills needs to trade this big mouth, no bark fake dawg before he gets worse!

Only hope would be Celtics are interested in further tanking, which would result in them having interest in a Felton / anything on our roster outside of Melo.

Not sure i'm interested in taking on a ton of cap space for Rondo though, which i assume would be a given if somehow done.

Lol, if this happens, this will confirm the fact that fatboy Morey's the ultimate 2k/fantasy GM, without the slightest clue as to how players might interact on the court.

I, for one, would love to see Lin back in his home away from home, but Rondo will probably end up clotheslining James Harden in Houston. Everything about Rondo is about having the ball in his hands to work his magic, because he's a poor-mediocre shooter. Are they going to try to mold Rondo into an elite spot-up 3pt specialist so that Harden can pound the ball into oblivion? Good luck with that, McHale.

The only championship that team is going to win is the league's worst free throw percentage award.

1. We're in the same division as the Celts
2. Houston has more/better assets than we do

That didn't prevent them from trading with Brooklyn.

It's unrealistic because we lack the assets, not because we play in the same division.

True. As a Boston resident, I'd love to have Lin here, but it would never happen. It makes no sense for Houston to do that trade. Rondo can't shoot and Harden needs shooters around him. Harden is too ball dominant to have a ball dominant PG. It just isn't a good fit at all. Lin is playing great now and Asik can help net other assets.

As for the Knicks, I believe this report. The Knicks end up getting a lot of players that got away from Isiah the first time around, e.g., Rasheed Wallace, JR Smith, Artest etc. and I'm pretty sure he was criticized for not drafting Rondo (I forget which scrub he drafted instead of him). It's too bad they've thrown away all of their assets and picks. Rondo would be a great fit.

LOLOLOL at the thought of Ainge even considering that.

Child please.

He gets cap space, plus you know the Knicks are giving him at least two future firsts. :(

The Knicks would be undermanned until at least Jan

the only thing we can really offer the Celtics is a chance to get out of there bad contracts a year early.

@LegacySportTalk 15m

Rumored major blockbuster involving #Knicks, #Lakers and #Kings. Shump to Sac, Gasol and Isaiah Thomas to Knicks, Felton & Amare to LA.

ROFL, what a great trade if true. Not a legit source though.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

It would add another wrinkle to how stupid letting him walk for nothing was. He'd be the second best player on the team if he was here, and he's a legitimate asset as trade bait if we decided to go that route.

Instead we let him walk for the donut king.
