Russell - Booker - Melo - LA - Hassanity
I say this because it has Splash Brothers potential (Russell & Booker), one of the best scorers in the game (Melo), the best post low post scorer in the game (LA) and the mighty beast (Hassanity). My god :o

Booker has a trenmendous sharp shooting ability plus is a rat on defense. That's why he brings so many comparisons to Klay. Be sure to watch him. Future KNICK?! 8-)
And D'Angelo, my dear man crush lookin' like Ginobili out there with a touch of Curry

Considering that the NBA Salary Cap will be $85,000,000 in 2016-2017 and the Knicks already have an established superstar in Carmelo Anthony, this is what I would do. My team considers that their Salary Cap for 2015-2016 will be $37 million since Stat receives a buyout from Dallas with the condition that the Mavericks take back Jose Calderon.

2015-2016 New York Knicks

Towns
Carmelo
James
Wes Matthews
Dragic

Langston Gallaway
Shawn Larkin
Lou Amundson
Cole Aldrich
Clearanthomy Early
Quincy Acy

Outgoing Players

Andrea Bargnani, Travis Wear, and Timmy Hardaway, JR, are traded to the Lakers for Los Angeles next 2 Second Round Draft Picks. Based on Bargnani's horrible 2014-15 season, he aggress to sign a 2 year $4,000.000 dollar contract which the Lakers will accept. NY trades Pablo Prigioni to San Antonio for the Spurs Second Round Pick in 2016.

This is the most realistic line-up that the Knicks can construct for next season. New York must keep salary space open for 2016, which shouldn't be a problem as once the television contract signings boost the NBA salary cap to $85,000,000-$90,000,000.

By the way, why are folks saying that our salary cap for this summer will be $33 million only if the Knicks trade Calderon? From all accounts, New York's salary cap monies for next season have been estimated at $33,000,000 right now. If the Knicks can trade Jose, this will push free agent spending capabilities to over $36,000,000.

Basically, this will ensure that NY can ink a MAX Salaried player, have the space to sign a second MAX Salaried player (or hold onto to this money if something happens with the 2016 projected space and this means Kevin Durant), and sign 1-2 second tier above average Free Agents.

I thought the Knicks were currently at about 30 mil with Calderon but before signing the first round pick (which is 4.7 mil if #1). So that's more like 25 million free and with Calderon gone 32 mil. They can get another 1 million by dropping Prigs.

It's talked about here:
http://www.postingandtoasting.com/2015/ ... ap-outlook

I'd love to see other reports that we are already at 33 million - then if we got rid of Calderon we'd be close to 40 mil... :o

This is just one of many sources that put the Knicks at $32 million-$33 million for 2015. This figure doesn't even consider a Stat buyout, a Jose Calderon trade, and accounts for all of the cap holds….

This seems to be slightly more optimistic but really very similar - it was written before the season, so a top 4 pick wasn't included

32 mil minus 4.7 mil (1st round pick) = 27.3 mil

27.3 mil + 7 mil (Calderon leaving) = 34.3 mil

So knicks get an extra 1.3 mil in this writeup compared to the other

Here the writeup is more conservative predicting 24 mil with Calderon and 31 mil without:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2331 ... pping-list

This is very detailed and looks accurate, putting us as having 29 mil with Calderon and 36 mil without!
http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=49015

I don't see how buying out STAT has any impact on space next year, either way he's off the books...

here is a lineup (don't know if its my "dream"lineup but one I've thought about multiple times):

assume we get the 2nd-4th pick -> trade to boston (they need a franchise talent badly) for their pick (7th - 9th, with which i select Cauley-Stein) + Avery Bradley + two future second round picks

Calderon/Galloway/x
Bradley(7.7 mil) / Hardaway/ x
T.Harris (12 mil) / Thomas / Early
Carmelo / O'Quinn (5 mil) / Acy
WCS (~2.3 mil) / Ed Davis (~3 mil, maybe room exeption?) /Amundson

A lot of defense and young talent would be added... Tobias Harris is also the most relastic Free Agent target with star potential for the knicks. We would have our number 2 on offense. If we get the first pick all of this would look different of course. I mixed up "dream" with "a bit realistic" lineups! I would love to have Draymond like many of you, but there is no chance, that GS will not match any offer.

Thoughts about my lineup?

If we trade our 2nd-4th pick for that trade package you offered, I'd be done with New York Knicks basketball FOREVER! I know we all have said similar things in the past, but with all the hope surrounding this franchise/Phil/future, to make THAT kind of move for AVERY FREAKING BRADLEY?!?!?!

My god I want to punch you right now.

:D keep calm, buddy!

If its the 2nd pick (russel), I would ask for bradley (24 year old d and 3 guy) wcs (just a great defender) and probably a future first (scratch the two 2nd rounders)

that is a heck of a package

Sorry brother, you got me all worked up.

If you have the opportunity to draft Russell, you take him, keep him, plan the parade in the Canyon of Heroes, retire his jersey the day he puts it on, and ask Jeter kindly to move to Boston and make room for the new King of NY.

ok, there's nothing wrong with this direction either ! I don't insist on trading the pick, we just have a lot of different options !

yes it is, but we don't have nearly enough cap space to pull this off.

Dream scenario is Knicks win Lottery. Philly gets 3rd or 4th pick. We trade #1 for (#3 or #4) & #13. Draft 2 studs that fit need. Fill out the roster with FA.

9 + 12 + 12 = 33

Problem is that we aren't getting all of these guys with market value. A 12 mil first year contract will be about 4 yrs, 55 mil for both Dragic and Draymond (I can't see someone not offering Dragic less and GS might match that). The Matthews contract would be about 4 yrs, 44 mil if it starts at 9 and that's his market value which means he'd have to pick us over all the other teams offering him similar money. Plus I'm off because I didn't take Okafor's 4.5 mil into account or Smith being a UFA with no bird rights (meaning we might have to trade Jose for this to be realistic).

Still it's probably our best case I just don't think it will happen. I hope we at least end up with 2 of those guys (out of Dragic, Matthews, and Green)

^Green Team. That a great team.

People don't realize it because they don't watch many Bucks games outside of him killing Ray but Brandon Knight is terrible. He can score but outside of that he's the worst PG in the league. I'd take Charlotte Felton over Knight 10 days out the week and there's a large group of Bucks fans that want absolutely nothing to do with the guy and for good reason.

Danny Green is also one of the most inconsistent shooters in the league. He's almost as inconsistent as JR but he plays less minutes (think Denver JR). That frontcourt doe.

This definitely needs some structure.

Matthews is in line to make 10.5-12 mill.

Gasol 18mill.
Millsap 14-15mill
Dragic 14-15mill

We can get 2 of these guys. Any money left over can go to solid rotation pieces. If we sign Matthews and millsap, maybe we have enough to snag a decent PG.
