Trade talks happen to EVERY team and player. Their marriage was on glass grounding to have been "supposedly" affected by this.
I mean, this was just as bad as in 2010-11 when he was on his way out to NJ/NY from Denver.
Some of y'all are taking this Phil hate to new levels now.

People even uttering Phil's name as Melo's marriage is ending have to be joking...right...right?

Stuff like this is why I try to stay away from going after these guys personally. From the outside, it looks like Melo really had to choose between his family and his career. That's a terrible place to be in. For his career it's best to move on - he had to know that. But that's a heck of a cost.
Is it really best for him to go somewhere new? I've said many many times, most players don't care about winning championships. Is that a bad thing, definitely not. Most players just wants to make as much money as they can because this career ends. What if Melo doesnt' really care about winning. Yeah his legacy will be hurt but at least you made the most money out of it. I'm still not sure if Melo wants to go.

I wonder how big of a role in all of this, was that Phil is forcing Melo to leave NY..

That is the instant litmus test on how much drama and crazy thinking some are applying here.
