I hope Kawhi gets disgruntled and forces a trade here to NY to be with me...

Yeah, Kawhi is a top player in the league, and far better than what we'd be giving up, but the supporting cast we'd have is not nearly enough to go anywhere
We'd be a mid-40s win team for a couple years til Kawhi left, then start rebuilding again
Essesntially, you're kicking the rebuild 5 years down the road to get a couple mid-seeded playoff teams

Kawhi ain't old. You sound insane. Walk KP down there for Kawhi.

When did I say he was old?
Melo wasn't old when we traded for him either
Melo was 26 when we traded for him. Kawhi will be 26 in a few days
2 stars in their primes
It didn't work the first time, what makes you think it can work now?

Kawhi is the best player in the league. He's two-way too.

Let me be happy damnit.

Not only that, players would run to play with Kawhi Leonard. He's arguably the best player in the game imo. Plays both sides of the Ball at an elite level. Dude developed a near unstoppable mid range game. No way in hell the Spurs offered Kawhi for KP.

Because Kawhi is a much better player then Melo? You do know Kawhi won a championship with the Spurs as the lead dog , right ?

With what cap space?
congrats, you've just swapped a 5 million dollar player for a 20 million dollar player (and it was KP and the 8th)
Subtract that from the 16 million we have total right now, and you have an amazing 1 million to spend on free agents
I'm sure Chris Paul would love to sign that contract
You'd need to dump Noah and Lee to get enough cap space to sign anyone big, and that would require us giving up assets
It's just not feasable

The Spurs roster in 2014 around Kawhi was way better than what we have now, and Pop is leagues above Horny as a coach

Kawai won a championship as the "lead dog"? He was the "lead dog" when he won finals MVP? He wasn't no star at that point, nor was the team built around him.

And stop this dumb **** saying he's the best player in the league, he isn't.

I like the guy and if he comes here on this team we will treat him like he's Melo. A great player who come to a bum ass roster and he takes the blame for it and all of a sudden the fans say he's a scrub. Let's be realistic.

he's the guy this team needs to change the culture though

1. kawhi would not have a choice.

2. the very thought of kawhi not doing his job as an NBA player is preposterous. probably the last guy in the league who would do anything other than exactly what he's told.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.

I'm pretty sure this is BS. Popovich would retire if Kawhi didn't develop this way before Duncan's retirement.

Media keep dragging this because it gets attention. SAS has Phil Jackson obsession and also knows Knicks' failures are his butter & bread. He was trashing Knicks even they were good for a season.
