I never listened to him after the first time I heard him years ago. I thought he was obnoxious and not so well informed. He must have had his good points, because a lot of people listened. But he obviously had his bad points too.

^that's the FBI complaint against him, its a hell of a read to see just how far this dude had gone off the rails and how sloppy he was at that. Two of the three counts including wire fraud and securities fraud carry sentences of 20 years apiece. Those nights in fed lock up will be cold and long, that's for sure.

I'm going to read that. Thanks for posting it.

Do you know whether or not any of the money received by the investors can be returned to them? Or was it already used to pay back the gambling debts?

From what I can tell he was wiring the investments to casinos instantly to pay off debt. Going to be an interesting read tonight. Reports say he could face up to 45 years. I think you are a legal resident on the board, look forward to your insight Sir!

Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years but he did a lot of damage to a lot of people many of whom lost their entire savings. So I would begin here. Not a pretty sight. If Carton already spent all of the investors' monies, then I think he's pretty much screwed. Let's say he gets the max, it'll still be within a range like 25-45 years (I don't know what the sentencing guidelines actually say). So he could end up spending less than 45. But if the facts are that bad and Carton acts like a douche before the judge, his sentences could be adjudicated consecutively as opposed to concurrently. I'm not an experienced criminal lawyer, so I'm not sure when sentences are handed down concurrently vs. consecutively.

the track record of disgusting things he has said is too long to even go through here.
