Two ringsJust saying...
He ain't an imbecile like many here try to illustrate. I would prefer Pop, Bud, JVG, Blatt, Carlisle, Ollie or Izzo here, but with Jeff and youngins, we shouldn't even bother.
He's not an imbecile? Have you seen the defenses he's been "running" the last few years? What he ran in Minnesota? When he doesn't have top notch talent, he's absolute garbage...and the fact that the defenses where he was the "lead defensive coordinator" were good doesn't mean anything to me considering the talent he had then - the defense was pressure outside and funnel to the bigs. That's it. His rings also mean nothing. Horry has rings...who cares?
He has a way of handling players," Jackson said of Rambis recently, via the Daily News. "He's relaxed yet he has the ability to keep them focused on the important parts of it. He's a defensive-oriented guy. I had him as my defensive coordinator for my teams in 2007, eight and nine. And I think he has a real good handle on that part. So we'll see how they go."
Let's ne fair man... we suck as a team... we didnt give effort, and Jeff even questioned the talent of the roster. Those above are words of the most succesfull coach in the NBA. Tex was the offensive coordinator while Kurt on the other side.
Many coaches have failed badly, but that doesnt mean that they are clueless and/or not knowledgable!
All assistants of Phil have failed in one way or another... thats another topic and needs to be analysed for sure
Again, who cares about the bold? Jackson says a lot of garbage and him saying something that props up a hire of his is nothing more than lip service. Why would he shoot someone down who he is behind...?
I'm not going to get into whether or not Phil is the most successful coach ever because that's the topic for another time. Again though, it could all be lip-service. Phil had some of the most stacked rosters in the NBA, so him winning with Rambis "running the defense" means nothing in my view.
I never said he was clueless or not knowledgable, I'm simply refuting the fact that you're trying to make that he is apparently some defensive guru. You're going to point to the Lakers' stacked roster as his successes...and I'm going to point to everything else as his failures. He has shown me absolutely nothing since he's come here that he is a good coach. Nothing at all. Say what you want about him winning, but good coaches leave their mark regardless of who is on the roster. Thibs' had elite defenses (and was winning games)no matter WHO he was coaching, Jeff Van Gundy just won the Pan Am with a group of nobodies, and Brett Brown has the 6ers playing hard as hell every game even while losing every game. What has Rambis shown? Nothing.
