But everyone involved won. OKC got someone who can score on his own next to Russ. Melo starts fresh. Knicks start fresh and get two guys who seem to be playing well in a different offensive scheme.

OKC did not win.

at least they won a chance to win the draft lottery

Well...I guess that's one way of laughing at it.

Presti had to make the trade. He needed to dump 2 solid young players and a great 2nd rd pick for an aging inefficient scorer who does little else. It was a no brainer.

How's that?

Weak!

Presti had to make the trade. Kanter refused to be hollowed out as a liquor dispenser for Fortune55 so he had to go and Doug humming Burger King commercials in the locker room was driving his teammates insane. When Presti realized he could get a hoodie for both of them he pounced on the deal. That Melo was included was just window dressing.

Presti had to make the trade. A gun was put to his head and he had no choice. He figured give Perry what he wants or else. After the papers were signed...Mills let Presti's family out of a van parked outside.

Yes, not close.
Can't believe this declining cancer waived his no-trade clause. Now he's stuck in a city he doesn't like and is making his team worse like he always does. :) next year after he accepts his player option he's gonna get booed worse than Chandler Parsons, mark my words.

Probably. Even if Kanter and McBuckets end up leaving and we don't get anything back for them it would then pretty much amount to a salary dump/culture change and that is still good.

You’re asking if the Knicks won the Melo trade 20
Games into the season, despite the fact that we are going to the lottery like we’ve been doing and OKC is most likely going to end up in the conference finals? We all know it takes time for teams to gel when they add stars and we all
Know we just loss to the **** Hawks. The replies in here are just like wow

Let's not forget most people here thought this was a bad trade initially and wanted more for Melo.

And as far as this Melo coming off the bench ****... y’all do know OKC is like the best first quarter team in the league and the way they start games have nothing to do with them losing, right?

We wanted more for Melo because we didn’t really get back anything. Kanter has been solid tho, better than solid. McDermott sucks though bro and the second round pick is useless.

obviously.

2nd round pick alone for Melo would've been a good trade.

The hate for Melo imo is unwarranted but it is what it is. The guy played hard in NY and carried us on many nights. I'll NEVER forget that 60 point game. But his time passed & I did want more than Kanter and Doug but I'm not ashamed to admit I was wrong. It indeed has been addition by subtraction (young man's game) and I'm glad the Knicks are doing well moreso than the fact that OKC is struggling as I'm a ride/die Knicks fan... not ride/die Melo fan. But I didn't see Melo as this cancer but that's me. Back to the trade... Kudos to Freckles for a job well done! Now go get us PG this off-season. :) ;)

This thread would be VERY appropriate if the title was “did the Knicks make the best choice trading Melo?”

And of course we did and it’s not even close..kinglee and whenever else, they are in some serious denial. This is WHO Melo has been for the previous two-three seasons..there’s no jelling regarding Melo. His defense and effort are so poor at times no amount of jelling will make up for that in a playoff series against NO, SA, let alone the rockets or warriors.

It’s cool to watch him on another team though so when he plays well I can root for him but when he plays Melo style defense I can just say “ooohh. Yeah that’s Melo”

Kanter continues to get better and has been a great presence for KP in he middle..it’s also great that the franchise has a little more depth that we don’t have to rush KP back when he gets nicked up..Adding two forwards from the trade has helped.

Bringing up OKC with Melo is besides the point. Even if OKC wins the chip this year and Melo wins an MVP the Knicks had to move him because they had no future with Melo leading the team. None.

A second round pick is useless is the equivalent of saying..you know what “3 weeks paid leave is useless”

Its a great asset especially since It’s the bulls. You hit right and you have a NBA ASSET for 1% of the cap.
