Do they also own basketball reference and sportrac? I get the same garbage ads that force you to close the window

Locking as the issue has been resolved for the OP but also to generally redirect these concerns to the location where they can be addressed. The Feedback and Suggestions forum is a place for users to address forum bugs and other problems (such as banning Capn'O) where the forum admins can see.
There are workarounds but these popups are not an intended outcome. There is already a current thread dedicated to this issue but definitely update that thread as needed for this specific issue.
